1. There's not a perfect choice

We don't want justice as revenge. it makes martyrs and resentment. We want a government as good as its people. These miscreants have the opportunity to blend back into society. We don't want acquittals, so we don't want trials.

"He got acquitted, I got 2 years!!!" will not be a popular nor equitable balance. So we make the deals lenient, and hopefully all accept the deal. Plus there are several hundred cases to bring, we want some type of equality across the criminal acts and levels of charges. So this is what we got. If we get it going these charges will increase as they move up the chain of criminality, and these lesser sentences are almost evidence of higher culpability.

I'm not defending it, I'm not saying we couldn't do better, but there are reasons why they do what they do. And we don't know the half of it. Thankfully many have been detained awaiting trial. So there is that time too.

But I hear ya.

I want justice. Justice for those who died protecting our government. Justice for the entire country as they had to watch a blatant assault on that very institution. I could care less about 'perfect'. I care about justice. And, I am not seeing it. I see tepid attempts at placation. But, you are right, we do not know the entire legal situation.

Have we not been told again and again about following the rule of law in this matter or we become chaos? Is this not how our judicial system works? If juries find them not guilty, I would say that makes more of a statement as to how far down the rabbit hole we have fallen and that maybe... maybe it is time to start getting serious (and honest) about what is going on in this country and what it will take to 'fix' it. Don't you agree? Or should we keep pretending that all of this was just an 'aberration'? (Not trying to be snarky, really asking.)

2. No doubt many are looking forward to the next time. I read the FBI

has ramped up their domestic terrorist caseload, and at least these people -- who differentiated themselves from millions on social media by adding action to their bloviation -- will be among those surveilled.

Not that there's nothing to worry about, there's a great deal, but I've been impressed so far by how many of the potentially treasonous and violent events that were widely threatened, such as on election day, did not take place after all.

12. The Judge is right.

The GOP / DT has had 10 months now to down play this as no big deal a “nothingburger” “just another day in January” and they have been fairly successful at that framing due in large part the milquetoast response by Dems and the Biden administration, DOJ.

The pandemic was absolutely the #1 issue PB needed to deal with starting Jan 20th but at the same time a very concerted, coordinated effort needed to be launched asserting the legitimacy of the election & PB, that is was not stolen. That 60+ lawsuits had shown conclusively there was no fraud. DT and his enablers needed to be held accountable for the clear crime of election interference (find me 11,780 votes) as well as a special prosecutor not a bi partisan committee that let the GOP delay this by months or the committee we have now ( that has let subpoenas be ignored and not done anything for a week now) but a special prosecutor not beholden to anyone assigned to investigate 1/6.

It simply amazes me how the Dems continue to be Charlie Brown to the GOP’s Lucy with the football. Bless their heart I know they mean well but President Biden saw up close how the GOP did everything they could to sabotage and obstruct President Obama how they toyed with his attempts at bi-partisanship and here President Biden has done the exact same thing. The Dems, President Biden and the DOJ need to get aggressive and use every tool in the toolbox to get this turned around ASAP. Bannon should be in a cell by now, inherent contempt of congress should have been charged to all 4 who have ignored the 1/6 committees subpoenas. The AG & DOJ need to engage with out hesitation. Obstruction of justice charges could have already been put on DT for telling people to ignore congressional subpoenas. A PR blitz needs to start refuting with facts and reality the “big lie”. The Dem Senators standing in the way need to stripped of all authority or assignments. If they switch to the party that is run by trump and killed 720,000 Americans tried to overthrow the government then so be it. GOP has been very effective at stopping everything even though they are the minority Dems can do the same and hope that 22 midterms gives us a solid majority in the senate (I know that’s a big if but what do we have now?).
