Huge Bill Kreutzman fan. but Gene was next level. Thanks Dad for turning me on to your generation's greats. I know I was an asshole back when you were sharing....but thanks for exposing me to Krupa and Count and Louie and Jack T. and Ella and Duke and Jelly Roll Morton.........

(7,208 posts)As much as I like Gene, and I really do, Buddy was better.
My drum teacher took me and two other students into NYC to Birdland on drum night in the 60s when Buddy was going to be there. Told us, You have to see this guy play!
Place was PACKED with drummers and drum lovers.
He could do more with a stick in one hand than other drummers could do with three hands/sticks! It wasnt human! Just stunned me. And all the drummers in the audience with us went nuts over what he could do. Still amazes me.
Your post included a link, if you scan past Genes clip, to Buddy playing solo on the Tonight Show, where you see him in action. Just watch what he can do with just one hand!
Thanks for posting and reminding me.

(111,078 posts)So the Committee can organize their questions and compare their answers, it would make sense to have Rosen come in after Clark, in my opinion.
