Headline on CNN.. Apparently for stealing the settlement money from the housekeeper's death. That's all I know.

He's being held in Orlando where he was in rehab. Probably no bail bond until he is extradited to SC, which could take weeks.

(26,259 posts)1. I wonder if he had something to do with his wife's murder
As in hired a hit man, and his son was unexpectedly there and ended up as collateral damage. Unless, of course, he had insurance on him. I think this guy was beyond desperate.

(21,555 posts)2. Just read about this guy. Wasn't familiar.
Wow. What a screwed up case of those on power going wrong. It goes so much deeper than him too. All the judges and cops that covered up their crimes. Dozens should be going to prison over this.

Murdaugh to face charges in missing $4.3M insurance money from dead SC housekeeper

Much of the evidence in the Satterfield case was recently brought to light in a civil suit filed in September by Satterfields two sons, who accused Murdaugh, another lawyer and a banker of participating in a scheme to divert the $4.3 million in insurance proceeds from the estate of Satterfield.
Satterfield died of injuries received in a 2018 fall at the Murdaughs house. The $4.3 million payable to her estate came from insurance policies Murdaugh had on his house.
Thursdays taking into custody of Murdaugh is the latest development in the ever-expanding saga surrounding suspended South Carolina lawyer Murdaugh, which started in June with the still-unsolved murders of Murdaughs wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, at their Colleton County country home.
The murders have evolved into a series of other alleged crimes, including insurance fraud and embezzlement, and theyve cast a spotlight on South Carolinas legal community and how lawyers handle large sums of money that come their way.
