Robin Williams is American treasure gone too soon... a tragic ending. I hope this biopic becomes reality. It's important that people remember and discuss his depression; his substance abuse; and the reason/s for his suicide along with the fact that he suffered from Dementia with Lewy Bodies. Other accounts online have suggested that had symptoms of Pick's disease, which is is a kind of dementia similar to Alzheimer's but far less common. It affects parts of the brain that control emotions, behavior, personality, and language. It's also a type of disorder known as frontotemporal dementia (FTD) or frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD).

Robin Williams' spirit and soul are woven into the very fabric of our national collective consciousness. He would have been 70 years old this year and his life is worth celebrating... and the causes of his anguish and mental torment are worth discussing.

2. I was absolutely sure that this was Robin himself. And I was wrong.

Jamie Costa has caught Robin perfectly. An incredible performance, very moving.

I too hope the biopic becomes reality. We need to see what happened inside him. It will be very therapeutic.

3. It's definitely bittersweet, isn't it. We get to see our beloved Robing Williams again...

... but at the same time, it's a reminder of all that we lost and the tragedy of the "demons" that tormented him. Mental health issues and dementia are worth discussing and worth remembering... no matter which forum they're posted in.

Thank you for the clip, brought tears to my eyes and the resemblence was astonishing. We lost a beautiful, talented young man to a vicious disease that he was no longer able to live with.

I welcome the opportunity to talk (again) about the tragedy that befell Robin Williams. Mental illness, depression, abuse, and dementia should not be ignored or allowed to flourish in the dark because of petty personal differences or because it's an uncomfortable subject.

Awareness is important.

11. That performance by Jamie Costa is brilliant.

His death hurt so much. I saw him in concert right before his son Zachary was born. He was a human tornado-I've never seen such energy. I was sitting in the aisle seat and he was running up the aisle and slightly bumped into my knee. He sweetly looked down at me and patted my knee. I will never forget that.

15. I saw him in the 80s, not too long after the series ended.

Most of the audience knew him as the brilliant comedian he was but one fool had the utterly insane idea to keep yellIng “Do Mork! Hey Mork! Where’s Mindy?” I swear from my seat way up in the audience I saw his eyes narrow ever so slightly, and what followed was the most delicate, precise dissection of a heckler I have ever seen. He must have done five minutes. The audience cheered the entire time.

And then he went on to be brilliant in a thousand different ways.

of his bewildering experience of suffering from Lewy Body Dementia without having it diagnosed until after his death.

It is extremely difficult to diagnose because the symptoms come and go. I lived it with my husband who eventually also killed himself. I suspected it very early on after two friends whose parents had both been diagnosed with it told me that all the strange symptoms my husband was having matched what their parents had been having. I discovered there was a neurologist with a national reputation in the field in our own backyard at UNC and we started seeing him in 2015. At one of my husband's appointments, the neurologist shared with him (my husband was a psychiatrist) that he had been asked to review Robin's medical records.

Eventually, my husband was finally diagnosed with probable LBD in 2017. It can only be positively diagnosed on autopsy when the brain is examined.

It's a horrible disease.
