Superman is officially moving on from the American Way.
Jim Lee, chief creative officer and publisher of DC, announced on Saturday during the virtual fan event DC Fandome that the Man of Steels motto will be evolving from the well-known mantra that he fights for Truth, Justice and the American Way.
Supermans new mission statement: Truth, Justice and a Better Tomorrow.
In a press statement, the company said the decision is meant to better reflect the storylines that we are telling across DC and to honor Supermans incredible legacy of over 80 years of building a better world.

(617 posts)used to mean something when I was a kid. It meant we (America) don't torture prisoners (learned that playing Army). It meant that we look out for the little guy and stand up to bullies (why we kicked Nazi butt). It meant that everyone has a voice and a vote (until bush v gore). Even though we've never lived up to those values completely, at least we strived for them. Not so much any more. I think they dropped it for marketing reasons but it sure is telling that it couldn't be sustained.

(23,926 posts)the coming "War on Christmas". Unprepared to simultaneously do battle on three fronts, Fox has scheduled the "War on the American Way" for early next year.

(13,180 posts)His "American Way" fits into a phrase with "truth and justice." A virtuous "Man of Steel" touting an American Way that everyone can get behind would be a good counterweight to MAGA. The good side needs to own all the good words.
Fox News won't care either way. They're Team Luthor. Just look at Trump and tell me you don't see a resemblance.
