. . . . other defiant actions.
What should be done about that?
I'm not sure what's actually doable, but I'd be perfectly okay with firing those who defy legit orders from civilian leadership and calling in the National Guard to supplement those cops who decide to comply. Then restructure the notion of policing as the who shebang is rebuilt.

(16,372 posts)Ok, I'm mostly talking about getting rid of killer cops. But these unions have to be replaced.

(19,192 posts)It seems they answer to no one, make their own rules, and protect bad cops, over and over again.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very pro-union, but union's have to answer to someone, and not just their members.
Police exist to protect the public, but when the public can't trust the unions to look our for their best interests, their power must be checked by a public/civilian board.
There are too many bad cops that can't be removed from service, because the unions protect the bad cops, and not the public.

(21 posts)Don't understand the foolish ones. The president of the Columbus, Ohio FOP union recently died from covid-19. If the death of your fucking president can't convince you than you need to clear your locker. To "serve and protect" evidently means shit to you if you wont even protect yourself. Pack your damn bags and get in that unemployment line.

(32,669 posts)Fire the half that did not get the shot and then split their pay checks with the other half. Double their pay. There would be such a big savings from not having to pay their benefits and way fewer law suits, it would make your head spin.
Big retailers would get a boost as all of those cops that got fired would be looking for jobs being security guards and the wages for those would drop to minimum wage.

I'm afraid that "Defund The Police" may become a reality (at least a reduction in police force). We will see how it works out.

I don't know, perhaps I am being prejudiced.
