2. i'm stumped about them.

their actions do not make any kind of sense to me.

Well. that should be that then. all the expense and grief and fear and every other thing. it's one of the weirdest cases I've encountered and I am a true crime buff.

to be honest, i thought he was out of the country all along. I'll be curious to learn how long he's been dead.

5. you could be right.

for all we know they planted his body out there. i can't believe how much they got away with in terms of obfuscating the investigation. can he be considered a suspect NOW?!

i don't even know if the whole story will ever be known, but i am curious about it.

27. He was always a suspect.

Investigations always start with the people closest to the victim. Also his parents didn't plant his body there, they just helped him cover up Gabby's murder and allowed him to kill himself. What I don't get is why it took him so long. His suicide was obviously not over his guilt for killing Gabby but because he knew he was going to be caught.

33. Yeah, he obviously knew that he'd get convicted...

... when he didn't even hide her corpse. Just a matter of time until she was found.

His family maybe didn't know that he'd kill himself, but there's little doubt in my mind that they knew his last location in that swamp.

They surely could've helped end the search a long time ago. Or perhaps the flooding made it nearly impossible days and weeks ago?

53. Trust me, he was a suspect. It's standard procedure to start with those closest to the victim.

The only reason why he was not named as a suspect was to prevent him from fleeing and to not incite the public. Police don't always name a suspect until after they already have them in custody.

17. He wasn't stupid. Pretty sure this was suicide. Predators and scavengers ate his remains.

Bodies decompose very rapidly in hot, wet, steamy places. The area was under water until a few days ago.

The area is teaming with alligators...

under his chin. This would account for "skull fragments and dental records". He should have been made to suffer a life in prison. Not fair!

45. Exactly. Lots of factors at play here.

This area is great for decomposing bodies rapidly. There are a number of things that decrease the time it would take for a body to decompose:

- Humidity promotes decomp, as the body can’t dry out
- Hot temperatures
- Scavengers would have likely feasted on the corpse and possibly spread the bones around
- Water greatly increases decomposition rate

Given the time he was likely dead, I’m not surprised his skeleton is in pieces. I would guess he probably killed himself.

20. Since his remains were skull fragments and his dental records were

used to identify him, there is speculation that he shot himself in the head or under his chin.

His parents and their lawyer need to be charged with assessors after the fact and aiding a fugitive and for covering up for Brian and lying to Gabby's family.

Justice needs to be served by all involved.

Highly unlikely that happened, of course. DNA testing on the bones should confirm that he's dead.

For all I know, they only found two teeth not connected to a jawbone or whatever. (And a few other bones as well, but not a full skeleton.)
