Got My Moderna COVID-19 Booster This Morning

The first day after approval. I was in the supermarket to pick up some groceries and noticed that nobody was sitting in the chairs at the pharmacy, so I stepped up to the counter. It's the same pharmacy where I get all my prescriptions, so I'm on file there. I asked if I could make an appointment for my Moderna booster. The pharmacist said, "You can get it right now."

Cool beans. So, I got jabbed and sat there for 10 minutes and then did my shopping. Perfect.

So, check with your pharmacy. You might be able to get your booster shot immediately.

I got an antibody test back showing a very low antibody level and so my doctors told me to get booster on grounds that I might be compromised. I hurt the next day but I am glad that I got the shot

Moderna was a bigger dose than Pfizer and gave one more antibodies. I had my antibodies checked with my regular blood work and my doctor told me I still had antibodies, my 2nd shot was March 23rd. My pharmacy put up a notice that it will be providing booster shots soon. I figured I did right by waiting because the Moderna booster is prescribed to be 1/2 the original dose.

If people were actually waiting, I would not have made this appointment (for me to get a booster based on occupation is vastly less important than others getting a first shot) but the fact is people are refusing the shot which means if I don't get this then it will just sit and wait.

Or is it different in recipe or quantity?

I'm assuming they didn't change the recipe if they have them on hand this fast after approval?

The Pfizer and J&J boosters are the same dose as the original.

Right not, there is no general shortage of COVID-19 vaccines in most of the United States. That might change, but for now most places have adequate supplies.

no appointment needed. I just showed them my vax card (plus my drivers' license to prove I was sufficiently ancient), then waited for my turn for a short time with a couple of other old geezers and was in and out in maybe 25 minutes, which included the 15 minutes they had me sit there afterwards, as for the original jab. I think that's the drill at all the Walgreens, at least around here.

I didn't have a choice last time, but happened to get Moderna. Lucky. My wife got Pfizer, because that was what was available to her. He got a Pfizer booster, too, for the same reason.

What is important is getting the vaccine, whichever brand you end up with, I think.

Said I did not qualify since not a cancer survivor, etc. High risk such as HBP does not cut it. Today they called and said that I’m approved. I thought since I was high risk six months ago, I’m still high risk? I’m 62 but they said age is not one of the criteria this time. In the meantime they are throwing dosages out every day.

My point is - the booster is recommended.
Dosages are plentiful in my area.
Give the shot if there is no shortage!
Publix is creating artificial barriers!

which was three days after I became eligible.

Today, two days after, I felt mildly achy on the side of my body where I got this shot, and I needed to sleep in this morning. Those are the most side-effects I've felt from all three shots. The achiness has mostly subsided by now.

I think I'll get "I'm Not Stupid" printed on t-shirts. Hand them out for free to those who show proof of vaccination and are wearing a mask.
