to be the employers slave, and releasing the employer of any or all safety responsibilities.
If an employer pushed that across a desk for me to sign, I'd push it right back, walk out the door, and seek employment elsewhere. That employer wants cheerful slaves. Fuck him/her. |

1. Skill and work ethic - but believing one won the lottery? 2. No delving into what exactly the difference between happiness and the pursuit of happiness is 3. No such thing as a "bad job"? Let's see here; hitman, human trafficker, drug runner, arms trader, warlord, soldier of fortune, Republican legislator, working in anything with "Trump" in the name, person who lays down landmines, etc. Pretty sure there are some bad jobs out there. 4. Any job can be done with passion and enthusiasm - You also need compensation, tools, time, and energy 5. Safety is your responsibility, it is also your coworker's responsibility, it is your workplace's responsibility, it is your manager's responsibility... no, there should be minimized danger if all rules are followed, this whole "there could still be danger even if all the rules are followed" is just claptrap 6. But not every meaningful task there is? 7. Whining and complaining are two ways of how things get done in the world, like it or not. If they didn't work, then nobody would do them 8. People really shouldn't say that second part... That just means google it or watch some youtube videos. "Whatever sources are available to me" makes me think that the person who wrote that thinks Breitbart or Gateway Pundit are part of those "whatever sources" 9. We're all products of both a little bit at the least. Kind of also contradicts #1. 10. No! Why does one have to be OK with that? In general: Beliefs are not skills, and these are just dogmatic and frankly unhealthy opinions that the person who wrote thinks everyone should share with them. It also looks like #13 was added on by someone else, just find that kind of interesting. |

However, as to #6:
I actually do believe safety is a personal responsibility. That said, i concur that the employer is responsible for minimizing risks. Over 70% of workplace injuries are slips, trips, and impact injuries. No level of mitigation can be done to avoid things like that happening if people don't take care for their own protection. The rest of that pledge is horrible. |

Good for CBS news. Just saw a story about how 1/3 of those that quit their jobs went on to start their own businesses. Boy does that put a hole in the "they are lazy and don't want to work" message that the Libertarian and Radical Free Market crowd are screaming. Looks like it might be the opposite reason they are dropping out of the job market. |

of Republican Jesus, who doesn't heal the sick or feed the hungry.
Nice that it affirms that we're entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But nothing more? Erasing all the rights listed in the constitution itself plus all those established ever since? And so on down through this dreck. Disgusting indicator of how badly their notion of what democracy should be has been corrupted. |

... abused, on day one if necessary. I don't need a pledge to sweat. I treat fair and I get treated fair. Or I leave, today.
I don't give notices if I don't feel it's necessary. How many bosses give a notice before firing or laying off. When I leave and the boss asked about notice, I tell them I've laid them off with the same notice they'd give me. And I don't accept certain behaviors from my co workers: do not steal in front of me, do not come in loaded and expect me to cover: I will not. And of course: go unions! |

This "SWEAT Pledge" is a ridiculous statement.
Also it could never be enforced by a court, if it became part of a lawsuit. For example if an employee needs to sue the company for being fired unfairly, this piece of paper wouldn't mean shit. This is merely for employee intimidation and nothing else. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

There are justifiable complaints and the “bitching and moaning” kind. Don’t bitch and moan.
Easy example: We run two Sunday newspapers, and both have gardening columns. Last Sunday one of them did a column on making homemade cookies to give as treats to trick-or-treaters. I could have lived with “throw a neighborhood Halloween party in your home and have homemade cookies there” - that happens quite a bit here, and it’s no huge problem. But…newspapers have been telling people for decades not to give homemade treats to door-knockers and not to let your kids eat any that they give. Therefore, it was my solemn duty to complain to the regional publisher that this article shouldn’t have been in the paper. He almost passed out when I did. |
