The Naked Emperor insists he is legally immune because he is the former guy...![]() Article behind pay wall here: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2021/10/24/donald-trump-fights-electric-avenue-copyright-claim-citing-presidential/ Donald Trump is fighting a breach of copyright claim after using the British hit song Electric Avenue in a campaign video, insisting he is legally immune because he was the US president....
This case has been going on for a while and Trump has been trying every trick in the book to get it thrown out. He won't and they will win. But this has to be a doozy. In Trumpland he can never be sued. He is legally immune cause there were enough idiots in the US to give him a one term presidency... but not enough to give him a second. I know he only has absolute immunity in his somewhat taxed noggin but never the less this quote seems appropriate: When one reaches absolute power, one loses total contact with reality. Gabriel Garcia Marquez oh, and Immunity corrupts; absolute immunity corrupts absolutely. John W. Campbell Heh.

16. and so far, the gambit keeps working for him. and that is what he learned a long time ago
the fact that this has dragged out this long is already injustice, which keeps him in the winning block.
he's likely going to his grave while these lawsuits are still pending. Unfortunately I don't see that happening soon enough. |

19. What I find really disturbing from day one was that a man who had to
pay $20M for defrauding people with a fake university was allowed to run for the highest office. Something is seriously wrong with that.

21. Exactly.
And that's just one lawsuit. But yes, this while campaigning for president and still unscathed.
The money he had to settle for was just a drop in the bucket of boatloads of laundered cash stashed in suitcases. Can't remember now, was it his Saudi pals, or his Russian Mobster pals? Which ever, it didn't hurt him financially in any way. Nor did it hurt him politically. 10 months into a new administration/justice dept. and what? A deposition he had to make an appearance and testify to. Maybe leads to court appearance perhaps. some day, some year, maybe. What's happened in New York? When are we going to hear from Cy Vance? He's leaving that office any minute now, if he hasn't already. The crimes are endless. I wonder if anyone has made a tally of how many pending lawsuits against him, his family, his organizations and companies? That list in total must be hundreds. That old "the wheels of justice grinds slowly" doesn't cut it. The wheels of justice seem to be grinding to an excruciating slow halt. sorry, don't mean to be a downer, just not seeing anything to give me hope. |

23. Here's the thing that keeps me awake at night: He's been Campaigning currently
Using his campaigning fundraisers to fund these lawsuits, and at the same time creating the premise that because he is campaigning, he is entitled to a certain level of immunity. and that the ridiculous notion that he has immunity as a "former president" in some instances.
And as ridiculous as it seems to us, he has a Supreme Court that is likely to validate these absurd claims. |

4. 'Naked Emperor' opens up a good perspective.
trump seems to have felt that he looked 'fine' in his prezidential/emperor uniform - and immune.
Many saw right through the clothes to the 199lb ass, right through the spurious legal 'immunity'. |

That's memorable. Should be oft repeated in the face of MAGAts, but tread lightly.

10. This is the real mechanism behind his claim that he could shoot someone on Times Square ...
... and get away with it.
He's arguing (assuming Presidential immunity is his armor) that immunity is retroactive through to his campaign if wins the election, though not if he loses. The ultimate "I meant to do that." |

11. Immunity forever and ever, Amen
Sounds like he's a god or maybe a pope. He has people convinced he has this infallibility. He can do no wrong because he's a 1 term president? Forever and ever not responsible, and all the other former presidents just never wanted to use their super powers?
But Trump wouldn't be around stomping on our democracy if some filthy rich oligarchs were NOT supporting him. I think maybe the Koch Bros, Zuckerberg, Bozo or the Waltons are stealthily funding him but it could still be Putin throwing Russian money away. Whoever is feeding him their money, you can bet they think they will gain more power and wealth from it. Because Trump is just a tool. |

20. What Gets Lost Sight Of In All This, Ma'am
Is that no law whatever states Presidential immunity from prosecution exists, at any time.
All there is is an advisory opinion nigh on a half century old stating it should be Justice Department policy not to indict a sitting President. It could be overruled with the stroke of a pen. |
