1. And exactly how do you propose that they be "kicked out" of the Senate?

3. There's a law against it.

Article I, section 5 of the United States Constitution provides that "Each House [of Congress] may determine the Rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member."

Since 1789 the Senate has expelled only 15 members. Of that number, 14 were expelled during the Civil War for supporting the Confederacy. In several other cases, the Senate considered expulsion but either dropped those proceedings or failed to act before the member left office. In those cases, corruption was the primary cause of complaint.

Mitt Romney would get pretty darn popular, pretty darn fast, once the evidence against Trump and Friends is revealed in court.

4. Key part "concurrence of two-thirds"

Where are we going to find Republicans with the spines to do this?

10. Make plain the evidence against Traitor Trump and his allies in Congress.

Make clear how they worked to overthrow the Constitution on January 6. “Who ordered whom to do what to We the People?” And “Why?”

Put it on live tee vee in prime time.

Any of those voting to acquit are on the record. Voters will notice.

11. LOL

Pure fantasy. This isn't a TV drama, where the bad guys suffer consequences, and it all works out in the end.

This is America, and those who are powerful enough, get away with whatever they want.

15. That may be. But, we got to try.

Their words:

Speaking on the Senate floor after the riot, Hawley said violence will "not be tolerated" but an investigation into claims of voter fraud was necessary.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/sen-josh-hawley-becomes-public-enemy-no-1-capitol-hill-n1253470

Among Ted Cruz’s remarks…

I want to take a moment to speak to my Democratic colleagues. I understand. Your guy is winning right now. If Democrats vote as a block, Joe Biden will almost certainly be certified as the next president of the United States. I want to speak to the Republicans who are considering voting against these objections. I understand your concerns, but I urge you to pause and think, what does it say to the nearly half the country that believes this election was rigged if we vote? Not even to consider the claims of illegality and fraud in this election.

Then, there’s Tommy Tuberville, who voted against certifying the election, suggested Biden delay his inauguration, and spoke with Trump during the insurrection, was the intended recipient of a phone message from Rudy Giuliani:

Giuliani Tries to Urge Tommy Tuberville to Delay Electoral Count But Leaves Voicemail With Wrong Senator, Who Leaks It

By Aidan McLaughlin
January 6, 2021, 11:41 pm

So Rudy Giuliani tried to call Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville to urge him to delay the Electoral College vote count, but called the wrong senator, leaving a voicemail thinking it was for Tuberville, but the senator who Giuliani actually called subsequently leaked that voicemail to The Dispatch, which published it online.

Listen and see a transcript of the voicemail below, via The Dispatch.

Senator Tuberville? Or I should say Coach Tuberville. This is Rudy Giuliani, the president’s lawyer. I’m calling you because I want to discuss with you how they’re trying to rush this hearing and how we need you, our Republican friends, to try to just slow it down so we can get these legislatures to get more information to you. And I know they’re reconvening at 8 tonight, but it … the only strategy we can follow is to object to numerous states and raise issues so that we get ourselves into tomorrow—ideally until the end of tomorrow.

I know McConnell is doing everything he can to rush it, which is kind of a kick in the head because it’s one thing to oppose us, it’s another thing not to give us a fair opportunity to contest it. And he wants to try to get it down to only three states that we contest. But there are 10 states that we contest, not three. So if you could object to every state and, along with a congressman, get a hearing for every state, I know we would delay you a lot, but it would give us the opportunity to get the legislators who are very, very close to pulling their vote, particularly after what McConnell did today. It angered them, because they have written letters asking that you guys adjourn and send them back the questionable ones and they’ll fix them up.

So, this phone number, I’m available on all night, and it would be an honor to talk to you. Thank you.

There’s tons more, of course. My point: We must try.

13. In her new book, Mary Trump cites the 14th Amendment, Section Three, works for me:

14th Amendment – Section Three

Section Three of the amendment, gave Congress the authority to bar public officials, who took an oath of allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, from holding office if they "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" against the Constitution. The intent was to prevent the president from allowing former leaders of the Confederacy to regain power within the U.S. government after securing a presidential pardon. It states that a two-thirds majority vote in Congress is required to allow public officials who had engaged in rebellion to regain the rights of American citizenship and hold government or military office.

It states that: "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof."

16. Ineligible for Any State Offices As Well: Executive, Legislative and Judicial

Put it to work:

‘ hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State,’

Article VI, Clause 2 of the Constitution makes federal law, and the Constitution, the supreme Law of the Land, and the disqualification is constitutional, not legislative, and cannot be ignored.

Lotsa state political officeholders aided and abetted the Big Lie Insurrectionists, and under the law of parties (conspiracy), they are just as criminally responsible as the twits who stormed the Capitol.

So how do we get started…?

6. And how close are we to having that?

Given that the point of the OP's proposal is to weaken the power of all of the other Republicans in the Senate, in what universe is this a realistic proposal?

8. Appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate January 6.

Then round up the traitors, lock, stock and three smoking ex-Senators.

Recommend we do it triple time quick, going by the speed, strength and growth curve of the GQP Big Lies.

12. They need evidence...

And the case as now known can be made that Putindent Trump, his aides and attorneys, plus at least a half dozen House members helped plan the January 6 attack on Congress. Betcha investigation and discovery brings out all sorts of new stuff from there linking to the Senate side.

14. That's a safe bet

It's also safe to bet that the Republican propaganda machine will be all pumped up to blow out an overflowing vomitorium of lies and bullshit when it happens.
