Im sorry about the election tonight. I know what this feels like. In November 2020, MT slit its own throat in our election. We have a horrendous Governor and legislature. It just sucks. Its disheartening and infuriating. Im with you tonight.
Love, Montana.

(182,734 posts)Northam made some huge moves as did the Dem lead General Assembly. Correct things. Things that needed to be done but it was very sudden. The GOP has gone full scare mode with CRT and that works.
McAuliffe is coming in strong (hes gained 100,000 votes since we got home from dinner) but I dont know if there are enough left - specifically what city or counties arent fully reported. Va has 133 cities and counties. The cities (35) are separate from the counties (98).

Very depressing but hopefully just a bump in the road. Hopefully the VA legislature stays able to blunt all the harm Youngkin would try to do.
Im hopeful theyll stop him in his book banning tracks.

(86,508 posts)I'm planning my exodus to some other state next year. I'm just so tired of fighting. As it is, all my really good friends live in other states. I'm heading for some place that is securely blue, it's been a really long time since I've lived in a blue location, I think I'm due after all these years (over 30) of being a warrior for Democratic causes in a red zone.
I've decided to divorce Montana, and that's sad because I was planning to live here for the rest of my life... not any more.

(23,301 posts)I've lived here since 1977. My husband is born and raised in Missoula. He would have never considered leaving MT in a million years but even he is willing to have that conversation now. We're talking about all of our options and moving is one of them. With so many people moving to Missoula from southern states, I am terribly worried about them changing our blue demographic in this part of the state. Missoula being blue has been what has saved my sanity thus far. Sigh.

(86,508 posts)Lived outside the par gate is, when a local has had it, they show up at the bar for couple evenings and express that they are "over it" and by the end of two weeks, they are gone. All I can say about this part of the coutry is, I'm over it. And it's only because of the people here, nothing else.

(43,164 posts)In 2018, when everyone else was celebrating the Blue Wave, I had to watch Ron DeSantis get elected Governor and Rick Scott defeat Bill Nelson as Senator.
Plus the two previous times watching that freak Rick Scott win his Governor's races, both by paper thin margins.
We're still a very purple state but it's just disheartening to see things fall apart at the last minute.

(23,301 posts)A virtual hug from me to you. The day after is awful and I get weary of reading smack talk about the red states where lots of us good Dems live, work and do all we can to make things better. I get it.
