(9,999 posts)Nor given the jury makeup.
My prediction is he'll be acquitted before Thanksgiving, and on a MAGA speaking tour by Spring.

(5,812 posts)A lady on court tv said the judge did the right thing because the jury should not have to listen to "this poor man crying." WTF? Two men are not present to share their emotions because of "this poor man." Fck him and fck her. I quickly switched channels.

(6,244 posts)His testimony is making me laugh. First, he cleans graffiti off a wall, then he helped someone who was hurt, then he put out fires, then he was threatened so he feared for his life. I'm surprised he didn't save a puppy!
I can't wait till the prosecution gets his hands on him. I think there will be alot of crying then.

(38,945 posts)Any bets about Rittenhouse crying as he was at the bar, drinking beer, after the killings?
Probably bragging about it.

(1,910 posts)They have a very good plan unfortunately, there will likely be at least 1 juror that will not convict. He either gets off or a hung jury.

(693 posts)I also figure that he will skate. I do not think that this judge is either fair or impartial.
If he is found not guilty, it will be a horrible precedent that will give a wink and a nod to all the gun porn wannabe killers.... and I fear that there are many of them.
We, all of us, will be in much greater danger.
I just turned 77. How do I prepare?

(114,990 posts)I haven't kept up with every detail, but from what I understand one of the people testifying said that a gun was pointed at Rittenhouse. If what I heard is correct, then it becomes a matter of self-defense and the remainder of the issues leading up to the shootings becomes irrelevant. I don't like that Rittenhouse will avoid any punishment, but I think that the cake has already been baked.

(15,947 posts)weapon? I think it was the 2nd person he shot who wielded a weapon. But will this jury make that distinction? Is this jury unbiased? Will this jury be swayed by the judges obvious bias?
Hav
(5,969 posts)Nonetheless, shootings of the victims 2 and 3 on their own can be reasonable seen as self-defense I think but I don't know enough about the circumstances that led to the first shooting.
Sadly, I too think he'll not get convicted for murder and he'll become a wealthy rightwing celebrity because he killed people.

Also,
The fake cry doesn't make me feel sympathetic but it does repulse me. It could have that effect on members of the jury.
Anyone who has cared for a child, caught being naughty, will recognize that manufactured remorse.
Defense has requested a mistrial with prejudice.

(88 posts)His lawyer knows he looks like a little kid. So they're playing that angle. Now he's crying like a cute little boy who could do no harm.
FACTS: THAT LITTLE CREEP HAD NO BUSINESS IN THE STATE. HE WENT THERE, WITH AN AK-47, LOOKING FOR A FIGHT AND HE FOUND ONE. HE HAD NO BUSINESS THERE. THOSE MEN WOULD STILL BE ALIVE HAD HE NOT BEEN THERE. NOW HE WANTS TO BE A WHITE SUPREMISTS HERO.
And everyone in that courtroom knows full well that he is guilty but instead of conviction, they're going to send him home to his racist mamma who gave him the gun in the first place.
"Look at him, he's so cute, we can't send that poor kid to prison!"
Hav
(5,969 posts)but we also have to be careful with the facts. It seems he payed for the gun himself through a friend. And whether we like it or not, he was as much entitled to be there after curfew as the protestors.
The jury understands very well that the killed persons would have likely not been shot that night without Rittenhouse being there. But they'll also be presented with the story that they'd also be alive if they hadn't engaged Rittenhouse or charged at him with a skateboard.
