The results say a lot about our political divisions. November 22, 2017

2. I'm not sure low self-esteem and OCD are characteristics of most conservatives.

Most seem pretty confident and there is usually a positive relationship between confidence and self-esteem. As for OCD, it is almost random and spans numerous ideologies. I'm not sure it is strongly link to one political group or another.

their reality over to someone else more easily than others where cults are concerned. Read the literature on cults. I'm pretty sure most OCD are not Republicans. Don't know if the OCD have been controlled more or have had more chaos at the start of their lives. Pretty tough going for a kid with OCD. I agree they don't get mental health care on the right as often as the left. I think that is what they are getting at. Not the person but the tough childhood and lack of healthcare might mean that they dock at another kind of port if it is seemingly safer or gives them peace through some kind of 'meaning'. Not that much around Republican politics will give you meaning save perhaps being an anti-abortion evangelical but that gets old it seems after 30 or 40 years. That and inequality and lack of unions (and lack dreams about retirement possibilities), as well as lack of healthcare, make for a dessert of meaning in Republican places. Dreams are crushed so scapegoating in a direction decided upon by Republicans takes a load off. The GOP cult of the nasty and evil fills the void. There are all sorts of great drugs that will help with many mental health ailments but I doubt Republicans want healthy happy voters with real meaning and self actualization in the way they live their lives. They seem to really want no healthcare for many Americans. Scientology is anti mental Healthcare too. The right seems to want desperation and fear in their base so they vote on cult identity, not what is best for growing the middle class. And the cult base is dependant on their cult leader fluffing them. Trumpists in Canada could not stop clucking long enough to let the Conservative party pretend they were slightly purple during a federal election. They insisted on getting their read meat every day. They lost.

3. You don't have to have a mental illness to become brainwashed...

and that's the overwhelming issue with most everyday Republican voters. It is true that many in GOP leadership and funding positions are psychopaths which explains their not caring about human well-being or the health of our planet. They are for the most part, untouchable.

Unfortunately, we don't have a nation-wide treatment system for deprogramming the brainwashed, which I believe requires special skills and adequate facility.

However, the elephant in the room is that most Republican voters are in total denial and live in a very closed social bubble, and hence would never submit to psychological treatment. The Party co-opted some major religions decades ago, thereby allowing them to justify all sorts of warped behavior.

My statements are based purely on my personal experiences and quite a lot of reading on this issue.

All people feel this way from time to time. Only conservatives have created an ideology around it.

ensures you will never understand them. It also displays bigotry toward those with mental illness.

You should do some reading on the impact that mental illness has on people's lives rather than shitting all over us.

Narcissism and low self esteem seem contradictory to me. The narcissists never understand how they end up hated and homeless or as President of the United States.
