Jackie Johnson allowed other murderers to go free. The McMichaels were not the first

Trigger warning.

Strange but true history , Kevin Gough, the atty for William Bryan, accused Jackie Johnson of misconduct when he was the chief public defender. He was fired in 2016. He believed he was fired for his criticism of the Justice system in Brunswick. He had the support of the local NAACP and appeared with them in an interview to say he was going on a hunger strike if their demands were not met. Fast forward to today, he finds black pastors intimidating.

These were some of the allegations he made against Jackie Johnson back then
SNIP
Mr. Tyson said in his letter that Mr. Gough had also accused the district attorney of being too cozy with the local police, and said that Mr. Gough had complained that the Superior Court was being run “as a debtors’ prison,” issuing steep restitution and probation fees to the poor.

in my nonprofit legal work which has spanned three decades, that this kind of coziness is not uncommon.

There should be oversight of legal systems by the DOJ but it has not done so for a long, long time. Only on rare, egregious occasions will DOJ step in. Otherwise justice by klatch is the order of the day.

These prosecutors, judges, local attorneys, and court managers are buddies. They go to lunch together. They have coffee breaks together. Look at their alma mater. That's another little clique.

Want to get a judge recused? Find out where the local justice system goes to lunch. Then hang out with a camera and sooner or later you'll see your adversaries having lunch with the judge. Then take your photo to the next appearance and ask that the judge recuse himself. I tried this a couple times and it worked on both occasions.

One way of getting around it is to get an attorney from out of the area, however, even then you will find they are very cautious about the legal network. Also you have to pay for their travel to the court destination and that can up your legal bills by a significant amount.

seeing those shots in the woman's windshield just shows how much the local LEO knew they could get away with.

Afterward, they discuss their marksmanship: “I hit her right in the face … right on the bridge of the nose,” says Sasser. Simpson waves off a former EMT who approaches to render aid. “She’s dead. I shot her in the head. Her head exploded.”

Small actually died seven days later.

One juror said the DA lied to them by presenting the case that she had room to maneuver and was an imminent threat.
She was trapped with 4 flat tires.

Jackie Johnson is a perfect example that oversight by the justice department is needed in police killings.

On the night of June 28, 2018, a Glynn Co. Police Officer, Lt. Robert Cory Sasser, murdered his wife, Katie Sasser, and her friend, John Hall, in cold blood.

A short time later, in the early morning hours of June 29, 2018, surrounded by law enforcement, Cory Sasser shot and killed himself.

What is significant about Cory Sasser’s murders? And how is Cory Sasser connected to the 2010 killing of Caroline Small discussed at the opening of this article?

is rotten from top to bottom. As NJCher posted above it is all a big crony network designed to line pockets, advance careers and trade favors. They live above the law and our elected leaders do little to reform this situation fearing backlash from voters who 'trust the American justice system' lol. Most people would be shocked at how unjust our system really is, not only for black/brown (for whom it is most unjust) but even for many whites.

I hope she spends a long time in jail.

Makes you wonder how many other ideas out they are doing something similar…
