CNN suspends Chris Cuomo for helping brother in scandal

NEW YORK – CNN said Tuesday it was suspending anchor Chris Cuomo indefinitely after details emerged about how he helped his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, as he faced charges of sexual harassment.

The network said that documents released by New York's attorney general Monday indicated a greater level in his brother's efforts than the network previously knew.

“As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation,” the network said.

The CNN anchor had pressed sources for information on his brother's accusers and reported back to the governor's staff, and was active helping to craft their response to the charges, according to emails and a transcript of his testimony before investigators working for state Attorney General Letitia James.

Chris Cuomo is often brilliant in his interviews and reporting. He is really good, and much better than most, at explaining complex topics.

That having been said ...

I often measure how much I want to listen to a news anchor by how often they mention themselves. So, even before COVID, this was a man who constantly interjects his own name when explaining the news.

Cuomo mentions himself frequently. Wolf Blitzer, for example hardly ever talks about himself.

Cuomo also practices rampant bothsiderism, or at least, he did it regularly before COVID.

I guess he's back to being the man in the middle again.

Good riddance.

Andrew Cuomo’s Covid-19 nursing home fiasco shows the ethical perils of pandemic policymaking

The ethicists said that Cuomo’s conduct stands out not because the policy he put in place was especially egregious, but because he obscured public health data for political gain.

Cuomo wasn’t alone in prohibiting nursing homes from discriminating against patients based on their Covid-19 infection status — officials in other states with similar nursing home policies faced criticism, but managed to avoid career-threatening blowback.

Hospitals were truly overwhelmed, and data has shown the nursing home transfer policies were not the sole or primary drivers of Covid-19 nursing home deaths. The number of deaths that may have been caused by the policies remains unclear.

But then Cuomo hid the data.

Worse than sexual harassments, Andrew actually killed seniors by requiring nursing homes to take infectious Covid patients.

his brother? I'm not sure what line that crosses but okay CNN. He wasn't even allowed to talk about his brother on air at all. All of this coming from the Attorney General who is now coincidentally running for governor. That doesn't smell right.
