(28,788 posts)but am seriously considering shitcanning that idea and asking my son to go back to doing it for me. It's so fucking dicey right now.

Too much risk. 2 years - no pre-Christmas get together.

(57,073 posts)Dr. Ding's twitter states this new variant is as contagious as measles. Yikes!
For those unfamiliar with Dr. Ding, heisa Harvard epidemiologist. I have been reading his tweets daily for almost 2 years & he has been 100% correct.

(28,788 posts)mostly have their taste and smell back, and are finished with quarantine.
I watch a lot of youtube, and vloggers I've been following since 2019 are getting it now.
i'm considering going on lockdown for myself and rescheduling appointments for the dentist, a sleep study i have planned, etc.
I do not want this fucking virus but it feels inevitable that I will, that we all pretty much will.

(28,788 posts)i drive thru for food sometimes. Shop for groceries rarely. It's essentially the dr and dentist appts that are making me think hard.
How long will I have to do it this time? That's the big question. I'm thinking until Spring at least.

(29,674 posts)But I have a biopsy first week of January and I figure I need to risk it.

(28,788 posts)i just started getting my mouth back in order after the first lockdown. I need a CPAP, have for years and finally ready to try using it. I have to weigh the pros and cons. If it was a biopsy, it's not even a choice. Cannot play with that shit.
hope it's benign!

(29,674 posts)The next day is a transvaginal ultrasound and a week later is a biopsy. Fingers crossed it's not endometrial cancer, which is an unfortunate possibility.

(45,433 posts)and as usual, most of conservative America are dying to own the libs. They will ignore all warnings and step up their idiocy.
Sensible liberals are vaxxed, boosted, and masked. So we are likely to fare better.
While it's true that NYC has a lot of cases, their hospitalizations have not exploded like previous waves. Vaccines are already saving them from severe illness and death. Rural conservatives will not fare as well.

(8,020 posts)I will continue to mask, stay away from crowds when possible but I'm not too worried about drastic changes with Omicron. Delta has been & still is my main concern. Numbers in my red county have been worse than any other time during the pandemic this month but the last week cases and deaths have been dropping quite a bit. If Omicron takes over as predicted there will be more cases but there is a chance of it being less lethal. Time will tell.

(32,688 posts)In Georgia. I've been literally face to face with multiple people with "mysterious" fevers and what they claim to be colds. It will be a miracle if I don't have it myself right now. No symptoms yet. Fingers crossed.
On the other side of town, my brother just had an old coworker die from it. In his 30s.

(2,343 posts)texted me asking if my wife and kids would be at my family's (all magat) xmas get together this year (we didn't go last year for obvious reasons). I told her no because my 11 year old hasn't been vaccinated yet and I don't feel comfortable bringing our 2 year old around large crowds. She never responded. That was 2 weeks ago. I think I made her mad. Fine with me. I don't like those people anyway. They're full on magats who just love using the "let's go Brandon" bullshit. I'm sure omicron will be visiting in my place. Hope they enjoy its company.
