Damn
Our family Christmas cancelled! Family was supposed to fly here Monday. Getting together Tuesday for Christmas. All vaccinated and boostered. Just got a call, twin granddaughters and a fiancee just tested positive. Will it ever end?

3. So sorry to hear this. Very disappointing for everyone.
I am hearing so many of the same stories.
Plans cancelled due to Covid. I know, is there any end in sight? |

5. I hope they get a very mild case and recover soon.
It is unlikely to end because of reckless people. My aunt is a big fan of wearing mask and getting her vaccine as early as possible since the beginning of COVID. She just came to our house 20 minutes ago. She said she "thinks" she has a flu. But she didn't get tested and she didn't stay home. She still went to work at a hospital and stayed silent so no one knows she is sick. And she came to our house for Christmas dinner (no other family is here).
I wish I could ask her to leave but I couldn't because of my parents. But damn, if you are sick and not 100% sure it's not COVID, then stay home....... |

14. Even if it is another illness, why expose
others? I don’t get that at all. If you’re sick, no matter what it is, STAY HOME!

But brought my grandson's birthday presents.
Don't think we will be back for a while. |

9. I'm sorry to say that no, I don't think this is ever going to end. From now on it's going to
be one thing after another and I don't like this "new normal" at all.

12. Ours was canceled also..and we just live across town..
But our Son’s step daughter, 19 years old, came in contact with a family where everyone in that home tested positive a few days ago.
So she is in quarantine in her house, the one we were going to gather at. She needs to test negative a few times before we can go there. How many families is this happening to. There are more than a few here on DU so you can imagine. The Tikkis |

13. Not sure why anyone would think it even could 'end'.
I am missing this thinking this will 'end' thing. Why and how could it? Covid will be around in various mutations forever. It is what it is. Each year we will get the best vaccine available for what is circulating. Testing will be routine. People will make decisions just like they do with the flu except with even more caution. Lots of compromised people have always had to be ultra cautious in flu season. With Covid in the future, a larger percentage of the population will have to be cautious. But healthy, fit, vaccinated folks will carry on with life without much mind to it. Our family are fitness buffs and vaccinated and boosted. We are not even the slightest bit worried about Omicron due to our situation. Our risks of getting hurt in a car accident and many other things are much greater than our risk from Covid. But we mask when needed to protect others.
