Alaska GOP governor accepts Trump endorsement, Murkowski ultimatum

Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R) on Thursday accepted the endorsement of former President Trump, which came on the condition the governor does not, in turn, endorse Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) in her reelection bid.

Trump issued a statement Thursday evening saying that Dunleavy, who is running for a second term as governor, had accepted the endorsement.

"Please tell the president thank you for the endorsement," Dunleavy said in the statement. "With regard to the other issue, please tell the president he has nothing to worry about. I appreciate all 45 has done for Alaska and this country."

Everyone is still waiting for a few Republican governors to stand up and admit that the emperor really has no clothes.

Personally, I think all it would take would be for two or three of them to stand up and declare that Trump is a fat shell of empty, barely coherent, rambling rhetoric, and that following his whims is a worthless waste of time. And yet---none of them have the guts to take that one move. It's a Yertle the Turtle situation. All it takes is for one of them to state that they don't want to play the fool any longer, and the rest will wake up and Trump tumbles into the mud along with King Yertle. But no one wants to go first.

Doesn't the former guy mean "the courage of my convictions"? What a simpering little toady you are, Gov. Esau.

An acquaintance once told me that we like our presidents to be personable. This was during the Clinton years. Certainly Biden's optimism helped against the bitter images presented by Sanders and Warren.

Was Nixon that bitter when he won in 1968? Of course these were tumultuous times.

That so many still want him really, is a bad image of our society.
