About 48 hours ago, I lost my significant other and I am in grief that may never end.

In this new cycle, even as I grieve my loss, I fear that all of us are about to lose our democracy and our freedoms.

Everything you said is true. We lost my father also and that was all that was in my mind, nothing will be same, he was murdered by those soulless people. you were not interested in participating, helps in the grieving process. For example, a friend lost a loved one who did volunteer work at an animal shelter. He never was interested but started volunteering at the shelter after she died. It helped with the grief he was experiencing because he brought happiness to the animals and that lessened his pain. Take it day by day.
