That said, all student debt should be forgiven since huge corporations are getting ridiculous tax breaks and obscene subsidies

When I graduated (yes that was in 1966, I'm old), if you entered any one of those vocations (I can't swear to public defenders, although I'd certainly support that) you had an automatic deferment (and no interest) as long as you were active in the field.

I actually paid mine off (it was small, even for then) after about 5 or 6 years active duty because I had it (didn't need every pennt to survive at that point) and didn't want to worry about it.

Everyone should be AT LEAST that lucky. And especially in the professions you list.

The system is bull shit. At the very least, we should allow people to bankruptcy out of it, just as we allow all businesses and corporations to do.

Even worse, student loans range from 6 to 20% interest. Exon Mobil can get a loan for next to zero percent interest and never pay it back.

The average poor kid pays 6 to 20% interest and cannot ever escape their loans. Fuck this system and fuck the people that perpetuate it.

No apologies to those on this site that ascribe to it. I have seen your bull shit before, but it holds no water with me. All loans should be forgiven and, those who have made faithful payments should get a tax credit going forward. Spare me your fairness in suffering arguments.

There are many federal and state programs for nurses which will forgive much, and sometimes all, of student loans for nurses,

I’m gonna need to study it a little. Might be an “ask” in there somewhere. My Indivisible group writes five asks (one per weekday) every weekend (including this one!) to send out to all our members, friends, and other neighboring Indivisible groups. Those asks are based on issues, problem-solving, and directing our reps to serve us better.

They are the involuntarily drafted soldiers in a seemingly endless war. They shouldn't have to pay back student loans AND they should get all the bennies of our American military.... at the VERY least.

Wholeheartedly and emphatically, as well as all medical personnel who’ve been at war with this virus and unconscionable stupidity and vile mistreatment from some of the Covid deniers they try to save.
