(42,278 posts)Ruined our trip for our granddaughter's first Christmas.
I am completely over the unvaxxed and their lame, selfish, whiny excuses.
You and your SO, followed the rules.
I am sorry you missed babies first Christmas.
Ya know, in all the time COVID has been beating us up, I had never known a single person that had COVID. The last two weeks I have family and family acquaintances with it...That includes my 2 yo great niece.
Stay safe, sweetie.
Yeah, in our extended family, the numbers are growing. Fortunately, son, DIL and 5 month old granddaughter are all negative.
I hope your great niece is recovering OK. These selfish people don't seem to care that our youngest are so at risk. Pro life my ass.

Hugs to you and yours, mcar.

(83,668 posts)My niece, ICU nurse. Two patients died, 29 and 39, both men. Un-vaccinated.
These people are taking up much needed beds. Five nurses just quit the unit, only one retiring the others up and quit. They only have a staff of 30. They were begging people to come in and offering 600 bonus to work 2 18 hour shifts for the holidays.
I have no clue how the DRs and nurses are surviving this.

(5,109 posts)And Trump suddenly tells his followers to get vaccinations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some one must have told them that the vaxxers were mostly just getting sick, and their anti-Vaxxer voters were dieing in droves.
What other reason could there be ??????

They live in Arizona.!!!!!!

Best to you and yours.

(16,288 posts)It should be an oxymoron. And yet we all know it isn't, not by a long shot.
I can't help wondering wtf these people are being taught in their training programs. Are they really not covering basic immunology or teaching how infectious diseases are transmitted from one person to another and how vaccines work? That kind of stuff seems pretty basic to me. But if they're teaching it correctly, how is it that there are so many nurses who seem to be uninformed about these things?
I really hope nursing educators, as a profession, will be taking a very close look at what and how their students are being taught, if they aren't already, because there seems to be something wrong somewhere.

(83,668 posts)I have lots of nurses in my family dating back to my grandmother, mom, sister and niece. Grandfather was a DR. Yes, two of them are long gone, two retired and one an ICU nurse. All believed/ believe in science.
This is just plain crazy and I can't wrap my head around it.

(989 posts)And don't mind having our lives disrupted.
They are wrong - we don't like this reality any more than they do.
Do you know what makes us different, though? We keep doing the right thing not because we don't mind living this way, but because we know that doing so will help end the pandemic more quickly than if we weren't.

(38,414 posts)Too stupid to know what ..sick is. I've been "sick" and don't want to be there again from Covid 19..
Think about that when you think about getting a shot or a booster. Sure getting a shot often sucks.
Maybe tell this to anti vaccination friends...see below:
But getting pneumonia sucks a lot worse. Breathing tubes are a lot worse. Staying in hospitals for a week is worse than getting a shot in the arm....
I have been there & done that (with pneumonia) & more stuff, and I am happy for everyday that I am not in the hospital...And I have had my shots and the booster too. (and will get another if it is required or advised)...I might add...stupid is still "stupid"
There were no problems with polio shots were there? Or getting small pox vaccine?

(9,116 posts)The antivaccination trend has been an issue since the mid-aughts. We had outbreaks of measles, whooping cough, and myriad other preventable childhood illnesses in our schools well before COVID hit our shores.
The time to do something about it was then. Now, to enact any kind of vaccination policies, we have to fight tooth and nail against a larger, much more energized contingent of looney goobers.
