Report from Mexico

Have been in Puerto Vallarta, Cuernavaca, and Mexico City since December 18. Very little Covid here, although it's on the rise, as everywhere else. According to the New York Times map, Mexico currently has an average of 3.3 cases daily per 100,000 population, versus 120 in the United States. (But many probably unreported.) Most Mexicans are vaccinated with Astrazeneca, from what I can gather, and with two, not three vaccinations. Almost universally they wear masks, even in the open air, and even in cars. And 95 percent vaccination rate in Puerto Vallarta (pop. 220,000), where my wife's brother, a doctor, said they had had NO hospital admissions in three weeks (as of a week ago).

I customarily wear an N-95, either 3M make or Harley Commodity, both of which seem perfectly snug. Flying home tonight from Mexico City to Chicago on Aeromexico. Not anticipating any belligerent passengers starting fistfights.

Couldn't take that for 4 1/2 hours. Guess the second one could have been a surgical. Anyhow, the flight went fine. All passengers had to be tested before being let onboard.

strapped tightly to my head. I wonder if I should schedule an MRI for March, when Omicron should be diminishing. My masks have a metal strip around the nose and MRI machines don't like metal, I have been informed.

San Miguel de Allende has a real problem with anti-vaxxers and idiots who refuse to wear a mask.

The town is bulging with tourists right now.... and all the smart expats are staying out of a center of town until they clear out after Feast of the three kings, January 6th
