will it prevent the Repugs from trying to compromise the election based on all the changes that they've made in the Repug States using TFG's big lie to assure wins for them?

That is not enough time for Krisin Clarke to sue the shit out of these Republican states. They need to do this now -
No more threats against the GOP. Just do it. Get it passed.
The Consent Decree needs to be re-established. It's the result of the 1981 New Jersey Gubernatorial race.
Critical for Warnock's race - but in my county in NJ? Our County Commissioner President (Susan Soloway) was at 1/6 and is good friends with fellow Republican County Clerk - Mary Melfi . . . who has never denounced Donald Trump or 1/6, and offered avid support for the Trumper that Governor Murphy just defeated.
These 'people' are everywhere. Clarke needs to the Consent Decree to stop them dead in their tracks.

(6,150 posts)Time is rapidly running out on any ability to derail the Republican voter suppression/district manipulation legislation that has already been passed, additional legislation still being considered, and also efforts to control the vote count and certification in those states.
I would say that if we don't have those bills passed by March 1st, it will be too late to take effective action to protect voting rights in Republican controlled states for the 2022 election.

(21,528 posts)the states need time to actually conform to the laws. so they can't just come out in october with rules like "lines should be shorter than 30 minutes and you have to have drop boxes"
Really this needs to be passed NOW if we want these rules in effect for november.

(24,238 posts)every red state that has passed voter supression laws. And I'm afraid I don't see the courts always isuing a stay to stop the supression laws in numerous states while they decide on the voting rights bill.
