Texas pol who suggested grandparents willing to die from COVID tests positive

https://nypost.com/2022/01/03/tx-pol-who-suggested-grandparents-willing-to-die-from-covid-tests-positive/

Dan Patrick, the Texas lieutenant governor who once suggested elderly Americans were willing to die of COVID-19 in order to save the economy, now has the virus himself.

Patrick, who’s been a critic of government shutdowns and other efforts to stop the spread of the disease, is recovering at his Houston home after testing positive, his campaign said Monday.

His campaign says his symptoms are mild and he intends to return to his regular schedule next week after testing negative for COVID-19.

The 71-year-old politician, a grandfather of seven, drew ire in March 2020 after suggesting shutdowns should be avoided at any cost — even if it meant lost lives.

“As a senior citizen, are you willing to take a chance on your survival in exchange for keeping the America that all America loves for your children and grandchildren? And if that’s the exchange, I’m all in,” said Patrick during a FOX News interview.

Lab tests: Eli Lilly, Regeneron antibody therapies lose out against Omicron

FRANKFURT, Dec 14 (Reuters) - German researchers have found that COVID-19 therapies developed by Eli Lilly (LLY.N) and Regeneron (REGN.O) lose most of their effectiveness when exposed in laboratory tests to the Omicron variant of coronavirus, likely reducing treatment options if the new variant prevails.

I have two light bulbs on extension cords, one for down your throat, one for up your, your...wazoo, one gallon of bleach and 400 doses of horse dewormer. Where should I send them? They'll be free if you do all of this on live TV.

C'mon, you supported that asshat that is your superior, maybe you can recruit him to help you place the light bulb up your, your...wazoo! I'm pretty sure he'd be willing to do that as long as you kissed his, his...wazoo!

And leave it to a sociopathic mindset that Republicans have to define things in financial terms as if the rest of the world isn’t dealing with this also. Idiot.

Obviously we couldn't have avoided a good amount of the damage caused, but if these people got on the team then we could have mitigated a lot of heartache we had and likely will still have. It's even more strange that otherwise intelligent people can be so blind to the cause and effect of their behavior.

But with him, I think I'll just sit back and smile. I'm not at the point where I hope he dies (for his family's sake), but I hope he feels horrible to the point that he believes he may on his last few days.

And he may well get re-elected. The idea of firing elected leaders at the polls for screwing up seems to have become a passé concept for the majority of Texas voters.
