Rep. Eric Swalwell Issues Chilling Warning About 2022 Midterms

The California Democrat slammed Republicans for choosing "violence over voting."

“I’m worried that if Republicans win in the midterm elections that voting as we know it in this country will be gone,” the California Democrat told anchor Chris Hayes.

The 2022 midterms are “not only the most important election, if we don’t get it right, it could be the last election,” he added.

Swalwell slammed the GOP for choosing “violence over voting.”

Republicans are “already putting as many barriers to the ballot box as possible” in multiple states while “on the other side of the finish line they are putting in place processes where they could reverse the outcome even if we crawl through glass, run through fire, to get to the ballot box,” he said.

“If they are able to win the House, the damage they could do to permanently make it difficult to vote and just alter the way we participate in a democratic process could be irreversible,” Swalwell added.

that is what Swalwell is saying. The game is rigged for 2022 and then once they own the House they can cheat or use loopholes in the Electoral college to steal the 2024 presidential election.

It's up to Chuck Schumer to pass 3 voter/election protection laws, and he need to pass them sooner rather than later.

We have one enemy - it's the GOP who know if we don't hold the House and Senate - our Republic is gone. They know precisely what they are doing. It's been in play since 1976 in Philadelphia Mississippi.

So they can totally destroy any of what we do have, because they have NO clue on how to govern--and, They'll just impeach Biden/Harris and finish off the USA once and for all. I guess these 'Americans' don't ever notice how an economy tanks completely when it's under GQP leadership Then again, the mostly corporate, right-winged media (who didn't tire of tRump's shenanigans) doesn't help with it's constant anti-Biden/Harris agenda either

Especially this far out. We start talking about the next campaign the day after the last one ended! Nor do most voters look at things outside their personal zone. As for the economy, Biden needs to be touting the 70 record closes of the Market in 2020. Trump returned a bit over 50% in his 4 yrs, people were happy with that. Even if it didnt get near what Obama did!
And people look too much at personality too. Look at GA. Herschel Walker (IMO) will win the GOP primary. Even though he has zero experience. Because people love him. Shouldnt matter but it does. And thats another issue to be talked about for '24. And a very touchy one at that

They'll start paying attention IF the GQP US Taliban Party takes this country down a path we won't return from. Secondly, we know how Dem messaging can be. Pres. Obama admitted that he should have mentioned more things than he did about how well the economy was recovering. Sadly, he didn't.

IF Walker's inexperience wasn't bad enough, he pulled gun on his wife and threatened to blow her brains out, then he's allegedly also assaulted women in the past--he has NO moral character whatsoever--like most in the GQP Party, and then you throw in the fact the man can barely string sentences together, and his logic is extremely faulty if you've seen him TRYING to answer questions or just speak when spoken to. He suffers from multi-personality disorder, and probably CTE as well. He's sustained hundreds of hits to his head. Yet, he has a chance to be a sitting Senator in the US Senate due to ignorant/uninformed voters, gerrymandering, purging Blacks/Dem voters off voting rolls--ALL courtesy of the GQP US Taliban Party.

the Wall Street attempted coup against FDR, and they only tolerated LBJ because he supported their Vietnam War (while JFK didn't plan to), and Carter was ridiculed for energy conservation because it slowed oil profits. So it's been a war all along.

Dems need to grow a pair and fang their teeth and use their power to grow their power while they have it. They're going to have to offend some people and defend their actions. Not doing so is tantamount to surrender.

But saying that this may be the last election ever seems incredibly hyperbolic. If Republicans outright try to steal elections in 2022 or 2024 I would expect those races and/or laws to be challenged in Court. Also, as far as 2024 goes, the DOJ is not going to be in GOP hands to help facilitate a coup and do we think that Biden (and a good majority of the country) wouldn’t challenge an actual corrupt outcome in 2024? And we probably better be thinking about other contingencies anyway bc it’s highly unlikely that Manchin and Sinema will carve out a filibuster exception for voting rights.

Tue Jan 4, 2022, 09:05 AM

where at least 3 justices that I am aware of have voiced opinions that states have absolute rights to run their own elections.

If Schumer fails to pass 3 voter protection bills I am not counting on the SC to bail us out.

States have already passed voter discrimination laws and those laws are now set in stone, sure they are being challenged in the courts but they will never be adjudicated before the 2022 elections. Once the GQP controls the House it can use loopholes in the Electoral college to steal presidential elections forever.

One of the 3 voter protection laws has to do with closing loopholes in the Electoral college, the House has already passed it, it now sits waiting for the Senate.

The GQP doesn't need the DOJ to steal the 2024 election. Several states controlled by the GQP will send their own chosen electors to the Electoral college convention no matter if a Democrat won the popular vote. Democrats will send their electors. At the convention there will be several states with 2 sets of electors and guess who decides which set of electors to seat, that's right, the House. Democrats can appeal to the SC but I don't see this court getting involved.

to run their own elections," is indeed chilling, but the case. Schumer better do something as it relates to the filibuster/voting rights legislation (carve-outs).

I'm hoping that the Jan. 6th Committee can powerfully message & tie as many GQP'ers in the Congress to what happened ON January 6th, which will mean that they also will be losing house seats and hopefully worse. Pretty sure that treasonous, barely literate, thieving, gun-toting fool married to a registered sex-offender Boebert won't be back, especially since her district was re-drawn to exclude her. Here's hoping that racist, treasonous, cave-woman Greene won't be back either because she's tied to Jan. 6th's treasonous events, and there is a solid chance of that being the case IMO.

Just looking at this language "even if we crawl through glass, run through fire, to get to the ballot box", where exactly is he referencing that it is really that hard to vote?

I've been voting a long time and relatively speaking it's easier to vote now in Florida than it ever has been. I remember when it was either vote in person on election day or have a valid reason to receive an absentee ballot. Now there is 7-13 days of early voting depending on the county, anyone can request a mail-in ballot, and of course vote on election day. Maybe I'm too optimistic, but any registered voter here really has no excuse for not voting.

many months ago, before the GQP states passed their voter suppression laws. If the Senate had done the same thing those state's voter suppression laws would have been illegal. The GQP would have had to go to court. Now, since the Senate has failed to pass those 3 bills Democrats must challenge already set in stone GQP laws in the courts which will not be adjudicated until after the 2022 election.
