People frequently describe DeSantis as Trumpian. But he's not really that.

He's far more Nixonian than he is Trumpian.

Trump was a malignantly narcissistic creature of impulse, inertia and the eternal yet never satisfied urge to feed his id. He was and is the classic bull in the china shop. Pure and absolute chaos.

DeSantis is far more calculating, not quite as ego-driven, but still with a very nasty mean and vindictive streak with a desire to punish and silence critics. He's Nixon 2.0.

Both are extremely bad. Both have the ability and potential to create substantial damage to the country. But they are different types of bad.

The fear is that Trump has opened the door to fascism. Someone like DeSantis could shove it wide open.

Scary stuff.

DeSantis doesn’t seem all that bright. Sure, he’s smarter than Тяцмр, but that’s not saying much.
