Trump cancelled his s**t show because of OPTICS, not because it was the right thing to do

It's one tiny, tiny little crack in the armor, one tiny ray of light that, despite Lindsey Graham gushing over "the 2024 nomination is Trump's if he wants it," MAYBE the blind freaking lust for power in the Republican party is SO strong that MAYBE they understand that if we sent Trump back to Mar-a-Lago ONCE, we can do it TWICE.

I don't want to read too much into it.

ALSO...Jill Wine-Banks, on Twitter, said that Merrick Garland has a press conference tomorrow. Having lived through Fitzmas, The Mueller Report, and two Trump impeachments, I don't want to read too much into that either.

I'm just glad that, tomorrow, Trump won't be wiping his ass with the memory of those who were killed, injured and traumatized as he giggled like a madman while it played out on TV a year ago.

But PLEASE, no one "give him credit" for doing the right thing. SOMEONE got through to him with a quid pro quo, CONVINCED him that giving this up NOW would result in his getting something back LATER. It's the only reason he makes decisions..."WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?"

On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump announced he was pulling the plug on a press conference he was scheduled to give on the first anniversary of the January 6 Capitol insurrection, not even a week after formally announcing it would be taking place.

According to Maggie Haberman of The New York Times, one of the reasons for the cancelation is that Trump's advisors and associates privately told him that the press conference would be a mistake — and that he would probably not get his event covered live, something that he reveled in throughout his TV career and as president.
