https://www.huffpost.com/entry/cher-donald-trump-democrats-message_n_61d5638fe4b061afe3acbc5dCher said Tuesday that she is desperate for Democrats to go on full-tilt and just run around with their hair on fire.
I know its not the nice thing to do or the genteel thing to do. But, you know, times a wasting, guys, and somebodys got to light a fire, the Grammy Award-winning music icon told MSNBC anchor Lawrence ODonnell.
............
I totally agree. I'm very frustrated. Yes they are speaking out somewhat. But IMO not nearly as loud or as passionate as what is required. There are going up against an unprecedented volume of deliberate misinformation and attacks on democracy. Stop being so damn polite! It really seems like they don't consider the country and its democratic survival is anywhere near as fragile or as threatened as most of the rank and file do.

And Republicans are calling us every named in the book already. The casual voter only sees one party with passion and anger at perceived injustice. And it ain't us. I think that kind of passionate public posturing goes a long way in helping folks who don't follow politics as closely as we do, make up their minds on who to vote for.

I'd love to see Dems fight back but from what I have seen, it often works against them.....look at the garbage thrown at Hillary, Nancy, AOC, for example. It's not anywhere near what Cruz, Rand Paul, McConnell get.

The MO is to shrink back into a defensive shell. Maybe even apologise.
I remember Van Jones not only apologizing but resigning not long into Obama's first term for daring to call Republicans "assholes" for vowing to not pass any legislation.
It's passed the time for manners

(153,147 posts)I'm just stating a fact: when Dems behave like repukes, they are treated MUCH more harshly. Should they do it anyways? I do think the time has come to step it up, when democracy itself is in the balance.

But look at how even Blitzer gave a positive reaction to President Biden's speech. I really think that the MSM , their tone, is at least somewhat reflective of the tone coming from the parties. They don't want to be the maker of the news (well maybe Fox has no qualms about that). They can only push back against Trumpism so much without being called biased (more than they already are).
They WANT politicians to "go too far" ....from both parties, so they can ask. "did they go too far?". And get an excuse to delve even further. So far only one party has been doing that. If they have nothing, or a tepid response, they have nothing to work with.

There's a reason why my Roku channel is full of of OAN and Newsmax. Right-wing propaganda is a worthwhile investment for the owner class.

To the point that they are criticized for it. That the GOP lashes back. That's the way it becomes "megaphoned" and goes viral.
