I salute my Uncle - His BD was 112 years ago.

Was a huge influence in my life. Graduated from Georgetown Medical School to become a battlefield surgeon.

Somehow survived, physically and mentally, and became a beloved community Doctor. Delivered a lotta babies. The kind of Doc. that made house calls and accepted "payment in kind".

Loved him out of office, but when I visited on official business....bad news. I can still remember the smell of his office.

My dad was born in 1904, 117 years ago.
My mom in 1905, 116 years ago.

They survived the great flu pandemic, two world wars, food rationing, the depression, etc.

And today people whine if they have to wear a mask.

Can you imagine the world then? Not the 1890/1900's - not the i920s-not the 1930s. But what a world he had to navigate.
