I think its coming soon. Israel is already doing it. But really, I suspect getting regular Covid shots will be the norm from here on out. Maybe only annually like flu shots or maybe more often than that. I got my booster in October and from what Ive read its lost a lot of effectiveness by now.

(3,282 posts)But didn't have it recorded on my card.
So I won't wait for approval-- I'll just get a fourth in a few week (6 months after Sept). I haven't had any real side effects beyond sore arm, and I have an immune disorder. I really want to have good protection because I'm pretty vulnerable. It's hard to admit that in a weird way-- I'm so used to thinking of myself as conquering that issue so that I can live without fear. But this omicron has me afraid.

(5,164 posts)Mine was in October. I heard it will be April before pfizer has a shot directed at O. I heard the army is designing one that will take care of of every variant maybe? Has anyone heard about that one? I am a bit worried about another shot because I had a bad reaction to the third one.

(4,438 posts)I got my booster in early December and will gladly get another one whenever the medical community tells me I should. Imagine where we'd be if they hadn't even come up with a vaccine yet.

(34,195 posts)Do you mean your fourth shot?
Two vaccinations, a booster, and then a possible second booster?

(2,343 posts)When I get COVID (I believe we all will at some point). He said up until 2 or 3 weeks ago, he would prescribe monoclonal antibodies. He said he'd treated just over 100 patients with it, and the worst outcome was one patient saying he didnt know if it helped or not. The vast majority said they felt better within 36 hours. But, he can't prescribe it anymore. The federal govt has taken control of the supply. He said he had to be pretty selective in who could receive it before, but if he could prescribe it to all his covid patients, he would.
He said in the next 3 to 4 weeks Paxlovid would be available. It's the new Pfizer drug that has received authorization. Supply will, however, be limited.

(18,122 posts)I heard that the monoclonal antibody treatment wasn't as effective against omicron anyway. Though I wonder what the federal government is planning on doing with the supply?

(2,343 posts)My dr said the same thing that reports were monoclonal antibodies werent as effective against omicron.

(4,516 posts)I won't be getting another until they separate the people who are obviously sick and need to be tested from those getting the booster. Getting the booster was my largest exposure to covid in 2 years. I stayed in for 2 weeks afterward.
