That was an obstacle, as neither party is allowed majority. They will need independent support (or criminal prosecution) to remove this saboteur.

The system assumes good faith actors on both sides, including some honest Republicans in this case.

Failing that, a functioning Congress has the authority to fix this.

There are eight listed.

One more is needed to complete the board.

This person (who would have been appointed to replace Bloom whose term ended Dec. 8) may be waiting for Senate confirmation.

They have to be Senate confirmed.

What a labyrinth of confusion our government is. Too many opportunities to tie things up by just one person.
