The DOJ is never going to drop the investigation of the attempted coup of January 6th, 2021.

Even if Republicans take back the House in 2022, the DOJ will continue to investigate and prosecute at least until January of 2025. They are not going to give up or drop their efforts to find out exactly what happened and who was responsible and who should be held accountable?

Even if a Republican wins the Presidency in 2024, Merrick Garland will appoint a Special Counsel with a large team of prosecutors to continue the investigation after he is gone from office. It is not going to disappear. No one is getting away with anything. It takes time and the DOJ is very patient. None of the criminals should think they can sleep soundly.

We saw how Trump was able to completely corrupt and infiltrate all the levers of power. I have no doubt that if he somehow got reelected he would take full control of the DOJ and completely shut that down, special prosecutor or not. Since when does rule of law and special prosecutors matter to a dictator?

Realistically, we have until end of 2022 to do something. In 2023, it will be too close to the presidential elections.

They are shameless. Optics of care and moderation are now a liability in the GOP.

The AG can fire a SC at any time "for good cause" or a variety of other reasons. Also it will not take until 2024 or later to investigate whatever happpened on Jan 6. It will be finished this year one way or the other. These things don't move that slowly.

... hamstringing DOJ from investigating J6.

There's nothing preventing them from doing so.
