They came around about noon and told everyone "you're working remote indefinitely, pack your equipment and go home. Now."

(42,552 posts)was sitting there doing some training. No mask and an occasional but consistent *cough, cough*. I got up and tried to find as many tasks and chores away from my desk as possible. Finally he was done and gone after about an hour and a half. I wear an N95 at all times in the building, and mountain cedar is bad in this area right now, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Crossed for 5-10 days...

(10,749 posts)But we ignored it and politicized it. And people will continue dying.
Vaccinated and boosted and I have it. And reading tons of posts here Im not alone. Looking at the maps, I dont see light at the end of this tunnel.

(7,849 posts)I'm in my 70s, fully vaccinated and boosted..I rarely leave my home and when I do I'm KN95 masked and armed with hand sanitizer...and 4 weeks ago I came down with what I thought was a really bad cold which in itself was pretty weird because where the hell would I have caught a cold...I'm a near hermit...back to the really bad cold: sore throat non stop sneezing, runny nose, stinging watering eyes, headache, fatigue, and drenching night sweats...the night sweats were the giveaway...not a cold...omicron variant..three days of dripping everything and then nothing...I was fine....pre-vaccine/booster I cowered in my house and when I did go out (Whole Foods..opened 7 in the morning for oldies) I wore my super duper mask, latex gloves, protective eyewear...I social distanced, spoke to no one and got out of the store in record time...post-vaxxed and boosted, I lost the latex gloves/protective eyewear, still social distance but will linger over the meat counter and tomorrow I'm flying to Las Vegas...why?...because if I'm going to die, I want to die sitting in front of slot machine, my hand on the re-bet button, having lived a little as opposed to dying of boredom in my bed..here's the thing...everybody's got it...isolating at home guarantees nothing...

(8,911 posts)This was prior to the vaccine being available.
The unfortunate part is that because she died in Texas, she is not counted as a Covid death statistic. Because she had other issues, the state forces the hospitals to list the death under one of those issues.
When my sister told me this, I said "That's like getting drunk at a party, then when driving home, the driver drives into a brick wall and is killed immediately, and the cause of death was alcohol not the wall."
Take care and be safe.

(20,817 posts)different facilities and there's been an explosion in staff and patient COVID cases the past couple of weeks and it's really ramped up this week. Everywhere I turn cases are exploding, even among the vaccinated and cautious. I'm triple vaccinated and take precautions and haven't contracted it so far, but I fear that it's really only a matter of time. Especially since I have to visit two patients with active COVID tomorrow.
My parents and my son are all sick now, they'll be taking the test tonight or tomorrow. They're in the same state, states away from me, and I'm on pins and needles. A long-time friend's son's fiance passed from COVID last night at only 29. This is a nightmare that we just can't seem to wake up from.

(12,649 posts)They also sent out a broadcast text to all employees. Only people allowed on base are critical personnel or those who absolutely can't work from home. Essential workers (techs, light manufacturing, warehouse, etc) were switched to Blue/Gold teams to minimize personnel that might be in work centers.
Almost all the engineers and IT folks have been working from home for a week.
