Then-President Donald Trump gleefully watched the violence at the U.S. Capitol unfold on TV a year ago from the White House dining room, and he gushed: Look at all of the people fighting for me, his former press secretary Stephanie Grisham revealed Thursday on CNN.
Grisham, who has been harshly critical of the former president since quitting the Trump administration after the insurrection, was asked on CNNs New Day about information that aides and even family members pleaded with Trump to intercede to stop the violence.
I dont know specifically about that, said Grisham, though she added: I know Mrs. Trump did not urge him to take action to stop the riot.
All I know about that day was he was in the dining room gleefully watching on his TV, as he often did. Look at all of the people fighting for me. Hitting rewind. Watching it again. Thats what I know, said Grisham.

(82,849 posts)They were supposed to vanquish all of the defeated former guy's foes, escort him through the halls of the Capitol, waving palm branches, and crying Hosanna. When that didn't happen, they were just suckers and losers and of no further use to him. Once it became clear that the fighting wasn't going to achieve his hare-brained objective, and after two or three or a dozen takes to get it right, the defeated former guy called it all off.

(2,020 posts)To delight in the kind of carnage and rage displayed by his insurrectionists that day, because to him it was a demonstration of love, indicates that he is not only morally bankrupt, but also utterly lacking in self-esteem and has probably never ever loved or truly been loved. And he knows it. All the bluster, all the bullying, all the aggression, are just defense mechanisms.
I would feel sorry for him if I didn't hate him so much.

I'm certain that Stephanie Grisham already knew this even before the insurrection, but she continued working for him anyway. By the time she finally quit, her job was already over. No sympathy for Stephanie.

(28,443 posts)Maybe even here on DU. It's lost in the flurry of reporting since. It's only a matter of time before a photograph surfaces. Think of the subpoenaed phone records. Either a leak or because the committee got all the recoverable photo data, including photos.
