Very well done movie, because of Sidney Poitier.

It seems that the older one gets, the more cruel these losses feel.

Broke race boarders with Guess who is Coming to Dinner.

Such talent, he was also a incredibly handsome man. I had such a crush on him.

He was a great actor and did it with class. May he Rest In Peace. There will never be another actor like he was.

I lost count of how many movies I have seen in the past month that he was in...
Guess Who's Coming To Dinner
A Patch Of Blue
In The Heat Of The Night
A Raisin In The Sun
Sneakers

What a gifted actor and caring human being.

Did you know that the actress who played the daughter wad Katherine Hepburn's niece? The actress who played Poitier's mother was in The Heat Of The Night too. Everything seems to overlap in some way or another.

My DVR is full of movies and tv shows which include Betty White, Peter Bogdanovich and Sidney Poitier. 2022 isn't starting out too well as far as our classic actors go.

I stumbled on one of his earliest by accident!

While I don't think I saw The Defiant Ones ('58) this one
was eight years earlier called "No Way Out".

I pop in fairly near the start. There's this Black guy, and, ah, he's a doctor...in a prison hospital?! Hmmm.... that voice, Hmmm... cheekbones...
...Is that... Poitier? Good Lord... How young is he?! 😄
23! No wonder I didn't recognize him at first.

Till then the earliest I'd seen (all on TV) was "Lillies", but
I'd seen Sir, Heat, and Dinner before that.

Anyway he has to deal with a pair of racists white brothers. Good film. He starts to get more roles right after.

I'm hoping that TCM or another cable will take the opportunity to show a marathon of his films. I've seen several, but not all of them.

In theatre, music, politics, literature and one is just as much a treasure as the other. Thankfully, they leave us with memories we won’t soon forget

And mostly they’re our generation. I think that while we’re celebrating their lives, we kinda think about us n how time goes by so fast, any more. We did grow up with some great music and very talented people.

Such a sweet movie, unfortunately still topical. Watching true life couple Hepburn and Tracy do their last movie, with tears in their eyes. Poitier, perfection as always.

We had a double feature with "heat of the night." Poitier, bravely facing and illuminating the stupidity and injustice of racism.

I don't know how we can live with all the wonderful people we are losing. Sigh.
