Golly, I wonder who?
4 years ago, I announced I was running for President. I figured that I could use the time to get my name and message out. There was no purpose in waiting. It turns out that the energy and interest in a presidential run is pretty low more than 2 years in advance. But it likely was the right move because we learned a lot and developed the beginning of a following throughout the year. Its somewhat easier to campaign in a vacuum.
I believe that someone else will have the same consideration set and get a jump on it, particularly if they dont currently hold elected office. The most likely major party nominees right now are set to be Biden and Trump, both of whom have 50%+ of Americans against their runs, so there will be real interest in a different figure and voice.
Relatedly, the energy around 2024 will surge after the mid-terms in November, so enjoy the year while you can.

(58,785 posts)of course pretty much defunct, or hopefully just dormant, in our larger American culture these days.
Maybe it's self protection from overload. A lot of people far more ambitious than qualified presented themselves to the nation as Democratic candidates, and I needed both hands to count those I found...regrettable.
Hopefully, the next ethnic Chinese candidate will make us all proud.

(53,743 posts)2020 run and predicting that someone else will run 3rd party. There are always 3rd party candidates.
Is he looking for attention? What is going on with him?

Now he's not a Democrat? Wants someone to run against us now? He's becoming annoying.

(53,743 posts)He ran for president as a Democrat, he lost but got much hi-profile, media coverage and became a national name. He tried to parlay that hi-profile visibility into Gracie Mansion and the mayoralty of NYC.
He lost again after initially being the front-runner so he's the last one to assess the electability of anyone as he doesn't have that quality himself.
And now he's encouraging third party candidates to run against Democrats. Sorry, but this guy is all over the map and doesn't seem to know what he stands for.

(53,743 posts)I still can't get over the stupid and vulgar campaign utterances that came out of Turner's mouth in her most recent campaign.
And Yang, ultimately turned out to be...and say it reluctantly...he's turned out to be a one-trick-pony. The universal guaranteed income is a good idea but there has to be more substance than one thing.

(68,471 posts)at history...incumbents win...Hoover, Carter, Bush and, Trump are the only incumbents to lose in the last 80 years...anyone who tries a primary is merely a patsy for the right and helps only Republicans...if Joe Biden can run and I think he will be able to, he should
