You can thank TFG for this Pandemic nightmare.

May 2018 The Trump Administration disbands the White House pandemic response team.

July 2019 The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) epidemiologist embedded in China’s disease control agency left the post, and the Trump Administration eliminated the role.

What a great idea. My County could save a lot of tax money if they would just lay off all of the Fire and Ambulance staff. If anyone needs them in the future they can simply hire new people.

An anecdotal story:

Around Sept and October of 2019, an acquaintance of mine had an adult son who was diagnosed with a "bad case of pneumonia" and ended up in a coma on a ventilator. He died soon thereafter.

This acquaintance and her adult daughter spent a lot of time in the hospital with him prior to his death. Quite coincidentally at the time, this daughter also gets "pneumonia" and ends up on a respirator and dies. All happens well before Christmas of 2019. No one at all thinks Covid.

In hindsight I think it was Covid. The odds of having two adult children get pneumonia causing death within a 5 week period seems highly unlikely.

Right, how many of us had it that fall and early winter and didn't realize it?

Late December 2019. Northern CA. Me, my hubby, my daughter, and my best friend. I think I picked it up while Christmas shopping and gave it to everyone else. I had all the classic Covid symptoms. Took me weeks to get over it. I was at the worst of it right about this time in January two years ago. Fatigue so great I could barely walk, deep racking coughs, fever... I thought it was a flu. I remember thinking it was odd, though, because my colds and flu usually start in my sinuses and eventually all the congestion ends up in my chest, but this was different because it STARTED in my chest. My sinuses were not clogged, but my chest was so congested I could barely breathe. My family and my friend all had similar illnesses. I also remember fearing it would kill me. I have little doubt that it was Covid, but yeah, like the rest of you, I will never know for sure.

And as to the comments above concerning, "it was here before it was here", I lost a good friend who was in and out of the hospital from November 2019 thru January 2020 when she died. They kept saying she had a, "bad case of pneumonia that won't go away". She was diabetic and had to check her BG every couple of hours and travel with an epipen. So that is pretty much what her death was blamed on.

If a normal human being, either party, had been in office at the outset of this thing we would be in a far different place right now. Instead we were stuck, because of stupid people, with an incompetent pathological liar. His lying and downplaying of this at the outset let this disease get a firm foothold here quickly.

Trump should be looking at Prison, not a return to Office. Oh and still don’t know why he hasn’t yet pitched over because of his weight, his diet, his lack of real exercise.

Where Trump did the most damage was by downplaying the virus and uplaying the conspiracy theories so that a good chunk of the country refused to do what was needed. Even with competent leadership, it's all irrelevant if 40% of the country refuses to vaccinate.

That's what has made the pandemic a nightmare.
