(6,911 posts)Like golf, its a challenge to achieve the perfection of a hole-in-onethe rarity of an antivaxxer changing their mind.
It seldom happens, but taking the shot every time is oh so satisfying. 😜
And dont let the tone police slow you down, its rude to not correct and challenge these assholes this late in the pandemic.

I had my second shot in April when he said this, so I only have 2 years and 3 months left!

(2,839 posts)if the Covid vaccine has only been available for just over a year now, how do they know it will crystalize your organs in 5?

(18,672 posts)Ivermectin causes organ failure and if they're drinking their own piss now I can't even fathom what they'll come up with next. Licking lead paint off of walls? The cures they've come up with so far is like reading, "The Darwin Awards: Evolution in Action".

(6,802 posts)In a bad case. I'll take my chances with the vaccines preventing that.
They are bullshitting about 5 year effects. Give them a coupon for Ivermectin at a farm store and tell them to go take lots of it every day for the rest of their life.

(1,188 posts)Last Friday I went out to change the oil in my wifes car only to have my magnetized forehead attach itself to the oil pan. Not realizing I was under the car my wife got in and started for the store. She dragged me a block and a half before she heard me yelling for her to stop. That was five days ago and I still cant lay on my back.

Good thing she started the car and started driving away BEFORE you drained the oil pan. Nothing worse than having a magnet in your head, a bad back AND a seized up engine. I hate it when that happens.

(146,286 posts)I can't imagine that does any good at all. I just finished a Facebook Messenger exchange with my brother-in-law, in which he was complaining about side effects from his Moderna booster shot, which he got yesterday. It took me months to convince him to get vaccinated in the first place. He's the sole caregiver for my sister, who has advanced Alzheimer's.
He was buying into the whole "Covid is a hoax" nonsense from the very beginning and constantly posts stupid memes on Facebook. But, it's my sister and he's her husband and caregiver. So, I've been very carefully trying to get him to get himself and my sister vaccinated and dispel the nonsense he is getting fed from other sources.
And, I've succeeded. Now, he has finally gotten his booster and gotten my sister one, as well. He sort of trusts me for medical information, despite his scorn for my politics. I religiously avoid any form of insult when communicating with him. I don't respond to any of his political nonsense in any way. I just say what I'm doing and why I'm doing it and hope he is paying attention.
Apparently, he is and is taking precautions by getting vaccinated.
He was whining about some side effects from the booster, so I told him that I had had those, too, and that they went away within 24 hours. So they will for him, too. I have to count on him to take good care of my sister, so insulting him isn't part of my plan. What I've found is that if I just tell him what I'm doing with regard to Covid, without even asking him what he's doing, gets him to follow my lead eventually, if only to protect his wife and my sister.
It's not easy. I'm the executor of my parents' estate, too, and am finally closing out the family trust, making the final distributions of assets over the next couple of months. My brother-in-law trusts me with that and sometimes with other things. If I started insulting him, he would not be doing that.

(257 posts)I totally agree with your approach, and most of the time that is how I handle it, although there are times when I fly off the handle...but in general you are right and I try to operate in a similar fashion. There are also times where I regret what I say in a moment of anger (and times I don't). This pandemic couple of years has impacted the mental health of all of us, just trying to stay sane and helpful for the future...I like to keep my friends and family around (even with stark political, cultural differences)... good tome...Thanks for the refreshing positive post...

(16,370 posts)But I can't help it. I'd love to know where that "article" came from, just for laughs. The claim about "crystallized organs" is a brand new one on me.
A Google search pulled up absolutely nothing. Are these cretins creating fake articles out of thin air and sending them around to each other? Not that it would surprise me, of course.

(3,928 posts)the vaccine caused their eyes to go bad. "Well, we never needed glasses before!" Silly 'kids' are 45 and 44, but hey what do I know? I was the first to discuss Covid the first week of March 2019 but got pooh-pooed. I'm the one who has to keep a good sense of humor about Obama and Biden even though they give me horrible political joke gifts all the time. It hasn't been funny for a long time, so I hide at home. Now it's 5 years before dying of the vaccine.
In 5 years it will be 10, etc etc.
At this rate I'll die of old age waiting for my vaccine to kill me 🤣
