needs to explain how THEY would get Manchin and Sinema to actually behave as Democrats. Those frauds are the problem
The blame needs to be directed where it belongs.

As always, Republicans get a free pass.
Why aren't they pressed every time they're in public--why don't you support voting rights? Why don't you support BBB?
But of course, that won't happen. Infuriating but entirely predictable.

Biden was determined to "go high" - a progressive mantra of the past few years. From the beginning, this lofty aim was contrary to the political realities of the day, Manchin, Sinema and the evenly divided Senate being some of these realities. Yet, he took the risk and went high anyway, and he accomplished a hell of a lot, despite the odds. He ought to be congratulated for it rather than be criticized for not accomplishing more.

(11,254 posts)There are a million things Biden could do to make Manchin and Sinema's lives worse. Executive orders to harm Manchin's coal profits. Badmouthing them and naming them both as villains. Urging Democratic voters in their states to primary them. Prosecuting Manchin's daughter for her obvious fraud. Taking control of the narrative. Spelling out the corruption at the heart of both M&C's obstruction, and that of the GOP.
I just don't think Biden acts like he cares about passing anything. He needs to (at least) make a show of fighting for us.

(26,614 posts)only because he's not trump said to me.. "Biden is weak" and in the next breath tells me she "can't stand Pelosi" I said you're telling me Biden is weak but don't like Pelosi because she's not?
Of course Biden cares, but he is who he is.. not LBJ, not Nancy Pelosi, and not Hillary Clinton, and you know what? Neither was Obama. He's like most of us who want consensus based on what's good for the country, not beating up on people to get what he wants. That's exactly what trump did and still does, and he didn't get anything accomplished except more division and dissention. Biden has accomplished a lot in one year. And yes, I understand how important voting rights are, but I don't think anyone could have managed such a successful vaccine rollout. It's really not his fault that so many Americans are just fucking stupid and selfish.
ProfessorPlum
(11,254 posts)but to wrest concessions from the wretched and greedy, he needs to be willing to to crush them. Not crushing them leads to the perception of weakness. Biden seems to have good intentions and that's about it.

(9,066 posts)He can't prosecute Manchin's daughter. He is not the AG. Manchin and Sinema talk out of both sides of their mouths and unfortunately Biden wasn't given a healthy majority so he needs their votes where he can get them. If people were to give him that majority then he would have more elbow room to call them to the mat. Using executive orders to harm a sitting member of Congress is a dangerous path to go down.

Only a few states require completed 'Civics' classes to graduate from school. I would think it would be as helpful to teach as basic geography and history in elementary school on up.

(50,260 posts)Saint Ronald Reagan could magically return from the dead as a Democratic POTUS and Republicans wouldn't work with him. All is now done in service to the Great Orange King and if he says don't work with Democrats, his fawning, slobbering, Congressional hacks will follow orders.

(50,260 posts)Flowers? Chocolates? Unless Democrats keep the majority in the House and obtain a supermajority in the Senate, Joe is up the creek without a paddle and will only get a fraction of what he had hoped to get done accomplished. If Democrats stay home in a snit next November, it will go from bad to much, much worse. In addition to not getting things done, they'll tie him up with idiotic investigations and even dream up something to impeach him for. Blaming Biden - as the media seems to love to do more than anything else these days - is a recipe for Trump back in the Oval and, quite probably, the end of democracy as we know it because one party will be in control forever. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of Biden at all and I'd still be happier if the candidate I supported had won, but I do think he's an honest, sincere, intelligent man who only wants the best for this country and all of its people. He should be getting a hell of a lot more respect than he's currently getting from everywhere. He's trying his hardest with what he's got to work with.

His longtime service to our country included working with Republicans so he had reason to believe there was a possibility there.
I'd bet that it's because of what they said to him behind closed doors. They just didn't mean it or had other intentions.

(42,770 posts)To me, that sets up the very argument itself - for blaming and faulting someone.
Instead, strikes me that looking at the facts that show there are issues with strategy that are not working and figure out how to improve is a much better approach.
Blaming things on any other entities does nothing to solve problems.
