Here in central Pa. I got about 10-12 inches. Going out to fire up the snowblower, wife has a 1PM doctor's appointment. Nothing shuts down, other than the post office, here in my red neck town for MLK Day.

(22,034 posts)We've got 10" to 12" of snow. The state snowplows are out and have plowed one side of the road; they'll get the other side on their way back.
Our driveway is about 150 yards long on the side of a mountain. Our plow guy texted he'll be by later Monday morning. We're hundred down with plenty of food and heat. We are very fortunate.
Stay safe.

(86,569 posts)Not much in the mountains either out here in western Montana.
I hear that Idaho, on the other side of the divide has lots of snow, in the mountains at least. I haven't been over there since before omicron.

(2,636 posts)I'm off 64, near the world's oldest Ingles, at the base of Laurel Park. LP snow plows for us. Haven't ventured out except on the deck. Couldn't get my car out without strenuous shoveling. Rickey Bobby the Cat got as far as the bottom step and still couldn't find solid ground.
64 will be treacherous because it's so narrow, but they try to keep it open. Good think we're stocked up on milk and...tortillas. No idea bout the bread thing.

(21,318 posts)at the Meadowlands, long ago, and it snowed a foot. Let me tell you, N.Y. city people cannot drive in the snow. One good thing about the city, you don't need snow ploughs, the traffic clears the roads.

(21,846 posts)It doesn't matter whether there's sun, snow, sleet, or anything else. Many people in NYC rely totally on public transit and don't even have drivers licenses.
As for the Meadowlands, that's New Jersey. New Jersey folks are certainly not the best drivers. New Yorkers who go to the Meadowlands generally take public transit, at least from the folks I know.

(14,642 posts)I haven't been outside yet, but looking out the window, the grass is completely covered in snow. The Adirondack chairs look like they have maybe 2-3 inches on them. It's still snowing.
Years ago, when I was commuting to school and then work, I told myself that I would never drive in the snow again unless I absolutely had to. I've kept that promise. Unfortunately, I still have to walk through it to do my barn chores. I hate snow unless it's on a postcard.

(34,066 posts)We were awakened at around 6 AM by our daughter's arrival almost home (she works overnight at Amazon). Her car was stuck at the end of our unplowed (quiet) street with its rear end sticking out into the busiest road around.
Police came and stopped traffic while we dug out enough to get her a firm grip on the pavement and back onto the busy road. Her car is parked about 1/4 mile away from home now.
I went back to finish my night's sleep and was awakened by the sound of 3 local yokels rocking their car all the way back to the busy road to make a run at getting past our house (on a slight incline). All the way back (about an eighth of a mile), make a run at it, get stuck right in front of our house. Spin and lout chatter. All the way back again. repeat. It took 4 tries, that I heard (I might have slept through the first attempt).
And, as I was writing this, the neighbor across the street got stuck turning into his driveway (coming home from his overnight shift).
Street is still not plowed.
I a zoom meeting early this afternoon. Otherwise, it's a quiet day of grading papers and figuring out how to get out by tomorrow.

(1,685 posts)We have about 12-14 inches on the ground. Lots of drifting. We are in Portage County. My accountant in Madison up by Lake Erie has 26 inches on the ground.
We are lucky in that my brother-in-law has a tractor with a bucket and lives next door. Neighbor across the street has a front end loader as well. Generally they make short work of several driveways. It usually costs me a hundred bucks and a bottle of Crown Royal.
Weird in that we didnt have this much snow basically all last winter. Mrs. Bird says the snow looks so pretty. I just mumble under my breath.

(2,050 posts)I'd say we're at least 10"-12". Good news it's not very heavy. Bad news is it's blowing and drifting all over here too. I've got places in my yard that are probably pushing 20" to two feet.
Edit to add that we have a standard poodle and the snow isn't quite up to the withers, but his chest is in it.
It does look pretty through the window when you have a steaming cup of coffee under your nose. When your nose is hanging over a full snow shovel, it's a different story...

(1,850 posts)I'm in a rural red area, not far from town or the interstate so main roads near me do get plowed. Still, I'm off of 2 secondary roads before I hit the main plowed roads.
So I'm staying put for today as I did yesterday. Housebound with lots of projects and treats. I did get dressed and went to my car under the carport, made a path through the snow, started it up and left it run a few minutes, got some item's I'd left there. Dog didn't want to be out in it, he's a daschund mix, low to the ground. Will do the same today, probably around 2. Sunny, but Wind is whipping, so not inclined to take a walk.
Will drive to town tomorrow, if my bosses open the store. They closed it today, but I don't usually work Mondays. We get a lot of silly? folks from other southern states (FL, SC, GA) who come up before and during a blizzard, to enjoy and experience the snow. The skiing and snow activities aren't that close to my town, North and West and over an hour away.
I like to look at it from my window.

(68,555 posts)It had been so mild and snowless, we had not replaced our snowblower...ordered off of Amazon today. We are shoveling in stages...just enough to get the cars out. Three days ago, it was supposed to miss us..yeah right. My son came up with my baby granddaughter. They live in Indiana but had to leave yesterday because of the snow instead of Monday. We couldn't get the back door open so I went around back and shoveled the small porch. Still working on the cards
