My niece has been exposed to COVID.

She works for a rural newspaper. She’s a proud Democrat and doubly vaxxed and boosted. But she’s obese and I’m worried.

Their office has been very strict about masking, etc., but another employee’s husband contracted it and it is spreading through the office. She has thus far tested negative, but other coworkers are now testing positive. I believe all of the employees who are able to be vaxxed are vaxxed. There is one sports writer who may not have been able to get the vaccine because of health issues.

The rural area is a Trump haven with most not vaccinated and claiming QAnon crap. The newspaper owner is an exception and he has tried to keep his staff safe.

May I get some good vibes, please, for my niece and her coworkers? Thank you so much.

Somebody in her daycare was positive. She ran a high fever for 1 night and seems better today. Keeping my fingers crossed for her. Obviously too young for a vaccine. Her birthday was last Thursday. We usually keep her 1 day a week - Tuesdays - but she won't be back for a while now.

They, the general public, they are not adhering to covid-19 prevention protocols these days....

The good thing is she is fully vaxxed and boosted....The reason we all get our vaccine is to fight off the virus infection when exposed...The vaccine is not a shield....She has done the clinically correct option.....Reinforce covid-19 prevention protocols...social distancing, wear a mask/ Preferring KN95, wash hands, use hand sanitizer and avoid groups/ crowds...

The vaccine will kick into action if exposed....that is the goal of the vaccine protocols.

The whole town is basically Trumpers who claim it’s all a hoax. It’s not always easy to pull up roots and move.

I’m angry at the ones who are NOT doing what my niece and her coworkers were doing. It’s like idiots working against reason. Yes, it’s everywhere to a certain extent but these little rural areas are the worst in my view.

My husband and child have COVID (though my kiddo now tests negative on antigen test). We had been all together for days before my husband, who is immune compromised, came down with symptoms despite being fully vaxxed and always masked. My child was asymptomatic. I am obese and I persistently have tested negative the entire time, including this morning. It’s not guaranteed that she will get it - especially if vaxxed and boosted and masked. Sending positive energy her and your way.

I took a PCR test 7 days after exposure and was negative. The person who exposed us was wearing a high quality mask, so maybe that's why it didn't get to us.

Mon Jan 17, 2022, 01:45 PM

Covid is with us forever. Every year a variant will become dominant. Viruses tend to become less deadly but more infectious. Covid will become endemic. We will get vaccinated each year with the latest vaccine, just like we do with the flu. The number of cases will be much less though than they have been the past few years. But the masks will come off for the vast majority who are not immuno-compromised, and we will live with the virus.

The only option to avoid Covid would be to make the decision to live like a severely immuno-compromised person lives, isolated and breathing filtered air. And of course people are free to commit to wearing a mask for the rest of their lives in public like some have always done to avoid the flu. But most will not do that.

I sincerely hope all on this forum understand these facts and are not thinking Covid will end at any point. That is just not the reality.

I don’t know how old you are. But I lived in a time BEFORE Reagan. Before the utter bullshit that has taken over this country. We put a man on the fucking moon!!! I want THAT America back and I’m willing to fight to get it back. I think that’s something people of a certain age group understand that some younger people do not. I refuse to accept mediocrity as if it’s the only option and is acceptable. It is not. I expect greatness!

We will conquer this. It may take a long time. But somebody out there, smart and calculating and incentivized will eventually figure this shit out. Because that’s what mankind is supposed to do. Move forward and solve problems.

If she does, odds are very good it won't be fatal.

My SIL has it right now. In Napa.

My sister was exposed last week. In Madison IN.

My niece got it on NYE. In SF.

My dad got it just before thanksgiving. In Cincy.

My brother got it 2 weeks ago. In Bozeman.

All triple vaxxed.

Hoping you see the pattern here.

They don’t test us at work anymore either, too many people were testing positive but asymptomatic. They have also stopped paid COVID leave and that made people pretty much stop any voluntary testing. We had people at work last week that have people positive for COVID in their household, only real requirement is that they wear a mask at work all day.

Everyone is going to get exposed to it at a minimum, many of them will get it, be asymptomatic and never know either.

My son just tested negative.
I was worried for 24 hrs till he could get tested.

The friend has no sense of smell or taste and was very sick for 24 hours. Omicron is rampant in Hawaii but her symptoms seemed more like delta.
She is feeling better

Her husband is obese. He is vaccinated but had not been boosted but even so, he sailed through it in like 3 to 5 days? I know he was sick, but no hospital required and he's back to work. The vaccines really do work. I hope if/when your niece gets it she has the same experience. I was worried about him too.

is rampant there. One of them works in a vet clinic, and they hired a new employee who did not mask and had covid, and that is how the she got it. Of course they live in an apartment together, so now they both have it. What is crazy, is now you have to PROVE you have covid in order to get your classes on line, not just be exposed, so she had to pay $100 to get a covid test in Flagstaff.
Thanks to the CDC you now get 5 days quarantine before having to go back to work. She had to work yesterday and still felt like crap. Insanity. I have a feeling that by next week, half the school will be having on-line classes. Thank goodness they are both double vaccinated, and are young, but they still got pretty sick.
