It's been going on for awhile, but well worth going back to hear the whole presentation.
He has given a history lesson on voting rights and voter suppression, taking down the Republican talking points one by one. He's very good on this topic.

(5,294 posts)has long been a proponent of filibuster reform. Twelve years ago, he tried to change the filibuster, only to be slapped down by then-majority leader Harry Reid, who accepted his friend Mitch McConnell's promise to only use it for "extreme situations" not realizing that Mitch defined "extreme situations" as "Democrats trying to get shit done."
So, rather than admit Jeff was right, Harry created a carve-out for judicial nominees other than Supreme Court. Which gave Mitch the opportunity to carve it to the bone to force unqualified judges on to the Supreme Court AND blame the Democrats.
I didn't hear Jeff's speech today, but if we don't redefine the filibuster, we can be sure it will be gone if Mitch ever gets back in charge (pui pui pui).

(4,874 posts)Several of the speakers pointed out that if states are able to undermine state elections and put people in congressional and or senate seats not chosen by the people, that those representatives then undermine democracy at the federal level.
You can't have democratic rule in congress and the senate when only part of the representatives are chosen by the people, but others are chosen by fraud.
Only they made the case much better... worth going to the videos of their speeches.
