Fresh Thyme: Tons of bags of potatoes and onions (last week they had none). They were very low on canned tomatoes and dried pasta. The cashier told me they never know what theyre going to get lately, no matter what they order. She has stopped asking people if they found what they were looking for. She also said to get extra blueberries because she heard they werent going to be delivered this week.
Kroger: Bread was stocked (empty last week). There were more snacks than last week. The aisle was maybe half full instead of empty, and they were stocking. TP was fully stocked. They were almost completely out of frozen potatoes. Just potatoes, no other vegetables. The No-mask compliance at Kroger makes this my shortest stop. I dont spend time looking around.
Giant Eagle: They were low on canned beans and frozen vegetables. Everything else, including TP, was fully stocked.
How does it look in your neighborhood?

(65,159 posts)I find it pretty hard to find certain things. Its impossible to find Polly O String Cheese, and other cheese runs low. Starbucks iced coffee has been better but still low. Hardly any half and half. Unsweetened iced tea runs low. Sometimes I have to settle for a different pack of spring water. Paper products vary each time.
Giant mostly well stocked, canned cat food pretty bare but Ive been good with Chewy so far. Cant find my favorite spaghetti sauce anywhere although I know they still make it.

(CNN) - Another item on your grocery list is going to be more expensive. Orange juice sales surged during the pandemic and now prices are headed higher too. Citrus disease and unfavorable weather conditions have hurt orange crops over the past few years.
The United States Department of Agriculture expects Florida to produce nearly 45 million boxes of oranges in 2022. That would be the smallest harvest the state has produced in nearly 60 years.
And its not just oranges seeing price increases.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, food made at home was 6.5% more expensive than it was last year.

(32,074 posts)I'm certain that the vast majority of it was weather-related. They were predicting possible frozen precipitation for Sunday, and I'm sure it was a complete zoo there on Saturday. I was able to get pretty much everything I went in for, though. The store was nearly empty people-wise, which was nice.

(2,220 posts)but they were kinda scarce, too. Like a dozen boxes of Kroger saltines and three Zestas. Luckily, I buy Zestas.

(13,565 posts)The huge aisle for cough drops had only ONE bag -- hanging that was ripped. No other bags of cough drops. Not of any kind at all.
Band-aids? Scant. Just a few boxes.
Went next door to a Petco to look for some smaller and quality dry cat food. Only about a quarter of the shelves of cat food were in stock. Many bare.
Today, Safeway. Almost everything was stocked! Except some canned soup varieties.
