The news just seems to get more difficult to listen to each day. It is not that it is all bad; it

is not. What makes it almost painful to hear is that it is consistently incomplete---unfinished.

Hearing that there was new evidence of Trumpian criminality used to cheer me: "Wow! This will bring him down and end this long nightmare!" But, now, there is almost daily news of "substantial" evidence of their crimes and there has never yet been news of any of these smarmy traitors paying a price for their wrongdoing.

Aside from a couple indictments for criminal contempt, no charges have been filed against the Trumps or their accomplices.

No trials.

No convictions.

No penalties.

I used to sort of roll my eyes when a DUer posted something like "Trump has never paid a price for his crimes and he never will! Count on it! He will never be convicted of anything!"

But, now------?

I am to the point where I do not really want to hear about new evidence or cooperative witnesses or possible criminal charges. When one of these thugs is handcuffed and marched into a courtroom for their arraignment, THAT I want to hear about.

Until then, I'm catching up on some reading.

You will go to jail if you are white, rich and famous if you scam large sums of money from the other white, rich, famous people. Case in point, that Murdock guy.

But that is a very very very rare case.

Atticus.

MSNBC is the worst - I mean, lifting our hopes only for them to ne dashed.

I fear when the big shit does actually drop, it will elicit only an eyeroll.

Goddess bless Jamie Raskin for sacrificing his life for this, anyway.

7. That is their job, they are owned by the same folks who own the largest shares of the news orgs.

Currently, ABC, CBS, PBS, NPR, NBC, all run the standard routine, if the president is Democratic, attack daily and what they are doing this for this administration, is really worse, beginning with the first poll, they are simply moving to calling it a failed presidency and telling us we already don't want him as President. Do you believe it?

MSNBC's job is to tell mostly the truth and make you believe, since we know this, something will be done. Like how we really had Trump nailed with the Impeachment, then the second Impeachment. The media and even us knew no Republican would vote to convict.

We are suppose to just give up and let the authoritarians take over in this nation and they are positioned to do just that.

In addition to Trump, there's the unvaccinated in the news since July! I wish the news would always talk about how they are taking medical care away from people who are legitimately sick. Hell, the Bible tells these people to follow the authorities. It tells them that God does not want them to die. Yet we hear all this nonsense about how they are trusting God. Just get vaccinated and stop being un-Christian spreaders of disease and lies.

12. Worst part is the media *still* takes them seriously

The media will destroy a democrat who is accused of something minor or made up or overblown and bam! That career is *over*

The crap they ignore for Donnie and other republicans is insane.

This guy never paid his debts, was on tape boasting about forcing himself on women, had at least two dozen accusations of sexual harassment and worse against him, swore virtually everyone he interacted with to secrecy (sign this nda please!), was known to pay people to keep embarrassing secrets, was an obvious and ridiculous liar, and concealed his income taxes.

That's just a partial list and that was all before he even became president!

And of all that crap and more, the media is proud of itself for... eventually and after much hand-wringing... allowing that maybe it's ok to more or less call him a liar. Well they still don't like using that word but at least they say he has a problem with the truth.

Then he invites an angry mob, gets them riled up, points his finger and directs them to go storm congress and make then declare me the winner, and the media can't even decide if it's a coup attempt never mind if Donnie was involved.

The media is hopelessly right-wing. And it's not just foxnews. Sometimes I think foxnews being so blatantly obviously right-wing gives the rest of the media cover to be right wing in a much more insidious fashion.

It is infuriating, indeed.

I decided this week, just to quit them both cold turkey.

Will NOT put them on, no matter what. I'm done being led like a puppy dog, believing there will be some justice. I can get enough of that false hope here on DU, balanced out with those who realize it's all a Dog & Pony Show.

I'm sure my lack of viewing won't make a whit of difference, but it will to my sanity.

14. The question to ask yourself is: Are you learning anything?
Wed Jan 19, 2022, 05:36 PM
Jan 2022

For example, I know nothing about the January 6th stuff. Very little about various lawsuits and investigations about Trump.

Why? Because I will have gained zero from reading about it. One day, a prosecutor, AG, DA, or the Jan 6th committee will have concrete action. For example, I will watch the Jan. 6th hearings. Until then, the daily, "Oooh, some person said something! Let's speculate endlessly on little information on what this all means with my cork board and yarn!" updates are absolutely 0% useful to me. Once I finish watching the Jan. 6th committee, I will know exactly the same as everyone who has been plastered to it for months, and I will have done so with 2% of the time investment.

If there are trials, convictions, indictments, etc., I'll look.

Otherwise, why on earth would I? I'm not involved. No one's coming to me to work on it.

And if America follows its usual course of people in power generally being immune to serious consequences - as I much suspect the case - I will have wasted no time and made no emotional investment.

I am not on Twitter. I don't need to constantly have an opinion because my wallet is dependent on people paying attention to me - which is most of what these pundits and journalists are doing. They're just saying shit for clicks. 90% of their blather never amounts to actual useful information.

If you're not learning anything, stop investing time in it.
