4 years ago we needed three Republicans to save the ACA.

And we got them. It took people sleeping in hallways of the Capitol and hounding the hell out of all Republicans. It worked. And we had a blue tidal wave during the midterms.

Why isn't it happening with voting rights? Possibly because it isn't imminent death? It won't bankrupt the voter to not vote? This is all too shortsighted.

I recall Obama's speech in Chicago 10 days before he graciously handed off the keys to the Oval Office. He charged us all to do more. We are great at finding tweets and interesting headlines, and staying abreast of the dark actions of the Republican Party. I just fear we need more action that we are not providing.

How do we get charged up enough to get out and confront them in those halls?

Please respond with any and all ideas

contact them and request they conduct similar actions. Offer to assist. Post your progress on DU and invite others to help.

3. I think it was people with major expenses owing to repealing the ACA.

The NAACP is likely a place to reach out. I would hope people here on DU would like to participate in their own states and online. I will contact them.

I post at https://www.democraticunderground.com/100216264919

and asked how we can do more, as was done in 2018 to save the ACA.

Can you please pass along a contact to help a group of Democrats online to organize to elect Democrats who would vote to change the filibuster in order to pass voting rights. Or forward this email for me?

Thank you

I fear the pandemic is going to reflect poorly on the ACA. I hear many a progressive pundit complain about out Healthcare system.

I don't think dems really understand the art of politics.

Why don't "dems really understand the art of politics"? Why do you think people sleeping in hallways made the difference?

people don't view voting issue in the same way and sadly many don't really care becsuse it won't be them losing something. By them I mean Republicans mostly because in the case of ACA it was Republicans calling their officials which made a difference.

10. Yes, and voting rights will never get that type of support

because many people actually are ok with certain people's votes not counting or not being able to vote.

So I don't think convincing people will really work. Those who care about this issue are already voting democratic .

To get others to vote democratic it will involve bringing up something they themselves benefited from because of Democrats and how Republicans could take that away. But even here we still have to overcome other issues like Republicans scaremongering about minorities committing crimes and men in bathrooms and other bs .

Right now anytime there is an article or video of crimes in democratic states the comments sections are always full of right wingers bringing up democratic politicians.

But when things happen in Flordia and other Republican controlled states the comments are mostly people making fun of "florida man" and similar things but no comments about the politicians and the party controlling those states.

13. Maybe activating voter ID registration.

We get called on to give so much to Dem candidates. How about money to get id's to those finding it nearly impossible?

11. One risk pool is a health care system. Multiple risk pools is an investment scheme.

We have enough investment schemes in this country; we need a health care system.

The ACA brought attention to how bad the “system” in this country is, but it didn’t do much to make it better.

12. I suspect a repeal today might pass were it not for how it is utilized by insurance companies.

It was supposed to provide healthcare with little profit for the middle man. It is just another log on the fire for Republicans now.

I see how the infrastructure bill won't cover 21st century needs, considering how much we rely on the computer.

But I'm not willing to put faith in doing nothing here on DU. We are on the verge of losing our Constitution because no crisis is too great for people of ill will to take advantage of the opportunity. That is how they think. Look at Gorsuch. What a rotten interloper compliments of rule breaker McConnell.
