Texas takes a new, novel twist in voter suppresion

Texas says supply chain issues have limited the number of voter registration forms it can give out

Ya'll see, it's Joe's fault you don't get those there pieces of paper to vote us out. Don't chu be blamin' us.

The Texas Secretary of State’s office is having more trouble than usual getting enough voter registration cards to groups who help Texans register to vote.

Sam Taylor, assistant secretary of state for communications, said supply chain issues have made it harder and more expensive to get paper, which means the Secretary of State's office will be giving out fewer voter registration forms to groups ahead of elections this year.

We are limited in what we can supply this year, because of the paper shortage and the cost constraints due to the price of paper and the supply of paper,” he said.

From a quick check, the exotic and usually unknown supplier called "Staples" can provide a pallet load of high quality paper (200,000 sheets) for about $2,700, delivered to my door in a couple of days. We should start a Go-Fund-Me account and have a couple of semi's of pallet loads of paper delivered to the Texas Secretary of State Office. it should be accompanied by a cople of news camera crews so that this BS can be shown as the utter hogwash that it is.

Even if there IS a paper shortage, people must have the right to vote - easily and securely. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to get that done. Failure to do so is ON YOU, and public office may not be for you.

Gov. Greg Abbott’s pick for top Texas election post worked with Trump to fight 2020 results

As secretary of state, Fort Worth attorney John Scott would oversee election administration in Texas.

BY JAMES BARRAGÁN AND PATRICK SVITEK OCT. 21, 2021 UPDATED: 2 PM CENTRAL

Gov. Greg Abbott on Thursday appointed John Scott — a Fort Worth attorney who briefly represented former President Donald Trump in a lawsuit challenging the 2020 election results in Pennsylvania — as Texas' new secretary of state.

As secretary of state, Scott would oversee election administration in Texas — a task complicated in recent years by baseless claims of widespread election fraud from Republicans in the highest levels of government, fueled by Trump. The former president has filed a flurry of lawsuits nationwide and called for audits in Texas and elsewhere to review the results of the 2020 presidential elections. Trump’s own attorney general, Bill Barr, said there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud nationwide, and in Texas, an official with the secretary of state’s office said the 2020 election was “smooth and secure.”

Scott could not immediately be reached for comment.
