New York (CNN)Igor Fruman, one of Rudy Giuliani's former associates, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison on Friday for his role in a scheme to funnel Russian money into US elections.
US District Judge Paul Oetken said it was a "serious offense" and punishment was necessary.
"Our democracy is fragile and it depends on people believing in it," Oetken said.

(82,849 posts)Gee, when did Rudy and Igor had a falling out? The CNN story mentions the two still having dealings with each other as late as 2019, when Igor was arrested with Lev Parnas while they were trying to flee the country. I wonder if a shiver is running down Rudy's spine?
Glad to see at least one federal judge calls this a serious offense, even if he did whittle down the sentence recommended by the prosecution by 70%.
