Giving 'him' one last chance.

We here are in trouble from the filthy pandemic. Did not need ЯUSSIA pulling this now especially.

I detest war and bloodshed. But if detente is not achievable....

I can't believe I'm in agreement. "Big guns and fast."

God have mercy on us all...

8. Do you think they'd go nuclear over Ukraine?

If so, why? Your post borders on fear mongering. Are you suggesting that Russia can do whatever it wants because it has nukes?

11. No, I'm suggesting that I'm an isolationist and Ukraine isn't strategically worth it

As for will they use nukes: Probably not. Vlad knows that he can't win a nuke war, but it's not worth the chance.

… in admitting that your an isolationist and are willing to let Putin run rough-shod over Eastern Europe. I think that would an historically epic mistake.

I'm not suggesting we let him go through all of Europe, but the former USSR states aren't my concern. Ukraine gave up their nukes like fools. If they kept them, Vlad would keep out.

9. So NATO is to look away/no involvement?

Why would it necessarily come to the use of nuclear?

This may sound off the wall. I believe life is somewhat pre-ordained. Situations arise and are met.

If he's getting his ass kicked by us will he use them? No idea, but it's not worth the risk. Ukraine is not a NATO member. Because of this, it's not their business.

6. That won't affect the strategic result.

The Russians will have air superiority, which means they will dominate the conflict. Most of the equipment we're sending is anti-armor missiles. Javelins, MBT Laws (from the UK) and the like will only make the common soldier suffer a bit more, but won't affect the outcome of any conflict.

We wouldn't provide them any anti-air capabilities, as we don't want the Russians to be able to test their aircraft and strategies against our latest SAM systems. Which would require a month or two to get up and running anyway, never mind the training required.
