Polls, Schmolls...

People are beat down. They have been traumatized by the attack upon our democracy and the terrible restrictions brought about by the Covid pandemic.

It is unrealistic to ask a poll question about how they feel about anything. They think it sucks. That is a natural response, under the circumstances.

It should be no surprise that Joe Biden's poll numbers have gone down. Under the same circumstances, Jesus Christ's poll numbers would have gone down also.

Overall, the situation since Joe Biden took office has improved dramatically, regardless of what the polls now say.

Do you feel the country is on the right track, they ask? It is not a fair or realistic question at this time in our recovery, in my opinion.

We are in an economic recovery and we are fighting to save our democracy. At the same time, we are fighting a pandemic that could kill millions of people. If you can put a happy face on that, good luck to you.

What has Joe Biden not done that he had complete control over that now causes you to disapprove of his presidency thusfar?

and

Compared to Donald Trump, and given the fact that he was not permitted a transition period by the former Trump administration, do you approve or disapprove of Joe's first year in office?

Do you trust them?

They are a reflection of the time we are living in at this moment. No one should expect them to be good.

People forget that Biden had to start from the ground up, because his predecessor is is a sore loser toddler. I have no doubt Trump also sabotaged the transition however he could. Biden is probably still finding booby traps all over the place.

There has been a 3 month long movement by the MSM to bring president Biden down, polls included.

They don't ask why people think we're on the wrong track, but they insist that it's all because of Joe Biden. Nothing but a goddamn push poll. I don't think the country is on the right track, either. But, it has ZERO to do with Joe Biden, and EVERYTHING to do with what the GOPee-Drinkers are doing, whether it's their assault on democracy, or their blatant obstruction of any attempts to end this godddamn pandemic.

We are listening to her monumentally uninformed, illogical collection of "ordinary" Americans.

Their answers are in line with your premise.

7. I watched Face the Nation this morning and Margaret Brennan interviewed a panel of voters live

Nearly all of them were Biden voters. If their beliefs are widespread, we're in deep trouble. The economy and inflation was far and away the #1 concern. Despite job growth, all of them had a strongly negative view of the economy.

They seemed beaten down and accepting of COVID, but had strong negative feelings about the messaging from gov't on it.

I'm not sure what we should do to change the message that's out there, but we need to do something different.

... to IMO water down the constitution and give more powers back to the states to set the rules for their citizens.

So what happens when the state you want to travel to or move to doesn't allow you to own more than one gun which must be registered. Don't forget the Constitution that now protects gun rights as it stands NOW. But if we go back to state powers being supreme over federal power then what.

What if the new state you have to move to for a job REQUIRES you to CARRY an immunization card to prove you and your kid are current with all your vaccination?

What happens if the new state doesn't allow even medicinal marijuana?

What happens to your protection about search and seizure without the protection of the 4th amendment.

What happens if any or all of the protections you now have thanks to the Constitution are gone with an autocratic dictatorship.

To all TFG supporters that think we would be better off under an autocratic form of government. Let me just say this. It is better the devil you know than the devil you don't know." Especially the devil that won't or can't keep his/her promises?

fact is, Biden's current poll numbers are the same as Reagan's were at this point in his first year.

Knowing that made me feel a lot better about the whole thing.

I've taken at least a couple polls that ask "Do you feel the country is on the right track / headed in the right direction?" My answer is always "no" but it's got nothing to do with President Biden and/or the Democrats in office and/or what they are trying to accomplish. It's got everything to do with the right wing authoritarian / fascist direction in which we are headed and seem powerless to stop. But, polls being polls, they aren't structured to follow up with open-ended questions like "why?"

So, yeah, "polls, schmolls." Don't read too much into them.
